New Trilby/DeFoe game? Should Yahtzee make another Trilby/DeFoe saga game?

At the end of the day, it's been proved before that Yahtzee himself doesn't even seem to know sometimes. After the Rob Blanc games, he said he was retiring from game-making, then Odysseus happened in an MI-fuelled stupor. Plus, with statements like:

QUOTE
Will I make any more Odysseus Kent games? The official answer is 'no'. But maybe one day, after playing through Monkey Island for the umpteenth time, that feeling of nostalgia will return and who knows what will happen. Don't get your hopes up, though.

One can't help but get the feeling that Yahtzee's creative decisions can be based on how he's feeling, the weather, or possibly even the colour of the underpants he's wearing that day.

The Chzo Mythos (Or certainly the John DeFoe aspect of it) has been completely wrapped up, if you play through the special editions and do some thinking there's absolutely nothing left unanswered. So, don't necessarily assume that if there is another Chzo game, Trilby'd even be in it. If I'm honest, I'd rather see something set in a completely new universe - new characters and so forth; I'd hate to see more Chzo games get churned out and become shit. I mean, it's amazing that the series ties together so well, considering the first two were never written as some sort of giant overarcing story. That's one of the main things that impresses me about the series and Yahtzee's abilities as a storyteller.

AoT being Chzo's doing? Nah, I don't like that. Surely Chzo's first intervention in Trilby's life would be making sure he was in the manor? He wouldn't have had to play any part in Trilby's life before then, just wouldn't have been important. Hey, there's an idea for a game: You play as Chzo, trying to make sure that Trilby's dad gets it on with Trilby's mum, to make sure that Trilby is conceived. Like those Japanese date games.

Anyone?

Fine.

Also, I get the impression (With GFW, 1213, AoT and TN to an extent) That Yahtzee doesn't just want to make point and click games any more, although arguably they are the best sorts of games for telling stories, which are always the strong points of his games. In the commentary for one of his games (SPOILER:The sex scene in 6Das), Yahtzee does talk about practicing for doing bigger, high res stuff, so who knows?

But, that's if he ever makes another game. I can't see it not happening, but who knows?

Fingers crossed some big studio gets the XDaS licence and ruins it, so we can all be proper leet and bitch about it from now until eternity about how it's not like 'the old days' anymore.

I don't like the idea of another game. 5DAS was good, 7DAS was more of the same, but somewhat better. TN...so...it's not just some ghost, it's all part of some conspiracy by some ancient Lovecraftian horror that lives outside time? Um...

Though I liked TN, it made a big change from the previous 2 games. I'd say it would have been better if it was an unrelated game. Adding another game to XDAS would probably change it again.

Except if you had unrelated spinoffs, that "just happened" to contain this Tall, thin Man, but weren't otherwise connected.

I would like to see Trilby in something else, as I personally love that character.

Though perhaps he's been taken as far as he can.

Ah, haha, the idea of Chris and Trilby in a short, maybe non-cannon romp* makes me smile. There is money to be made in the casual gaming sector...

*A totally hetrosexual one, that is. After I posted I realized that could be very easy misinterpreted.

That was the first thing I immediately thought of posting. Who knows what might have come out of someones mouth otherwise?

This is a stunningly original thread.

I think we're all agreed we'd love to see more Trilby, in whatever medium. Hell, I'd read Trilby fan-fiction, if it was sensible, and true to the character, and, y'know, good. I can't seem to remember what happened to my Chris and Trilby story where they were locked in the brig of a slow boat to China, and while Trilby is picking the door open Chris pulls out the bilge plug, with hilarious consequences.

Reminds me of something I suggested once . . .
Trilby does Dallas.

The point of the game is to sneak onto porno sets and steal all the bling without being caught on camera.

Just Trilby? No.
Just Chris? Could work.
Chris & Trilby? Hell yes.
Chzo & Trilby? No, no, you don't understand, Chris and Trilby.
King Diamond & Trilby? No, I said- W-huh?

(hmm... I've still got a cent)

GFW-related stuff? Hell yes.
Original stuff? Double hell yes.

(there, now I'm missing two cents)

Super Yahtzee Bros Melee.

Because who doesn't want to see Philip Harty stabbing the shit out of Odysseus Kent with the Tall Man's scythe on a stage which keeps shifting between the World of Magic and The world of Science?

ITT: Yahtzee fans are ruining Yahtzee.
"I felt insulted until I realized that the people trying to mock me were the same intellectual titans who claimed that people would be thrown out of skyscrapers and feudalism would be re-institutionalized if service cartels don't keep getting political favors and regulations are cut down to only a few thousand pages worth, that being able to take a walk in the park is worth driving your nation's economy into the ground, that sexual orientation is a choice that can be changed at a whim, that problems caused by having institutions can be solved by introducing more institutions or strengthening the existing ones that are causing the problems, and many more profound pearls of wisdom. I no longer feel insulted because I now feel grateful for being alive and witnessing such deep conclusions from my fellows."

Seriously though, A Chris and Trilby game would kick serious ass.

I'd suggest starting a petition for it, if even for a moment I thought it would ever make the tiniest bit of difference.

Attaching the a note that said "Make a Chris and Trilby game" to a large bag of money and sitting it on his doorstep might get the ball rolling, though.

It's a good plan.

Just a shame that there's so many reasons that would never happen.
