Yahtzee complains about how he can't say anything on his favorite forum anymore without people jumping all over him.

Nameless, faceless forumites. Its easier to be an asshole to words on a screen. Harder when you know there's a voice, a name, a face, and a person behind a particular screen name. That person no longer exists in the abstract.

I hope Yahtzee does something else soon. Something besides Zero Punctuation. He's got the idiots out there thinking that videos are all he can do.

( Hi everyone, new here)

He alluded a bit, in this recent interview-thing at the ACMI, that he was working for a Game Developer (Pandemic if I got this right) but was not allowed to say anything, and he was thinking about doing a TV show?

I would love to see a ZP feature film. Of course I know how much work that would be, I am just a humble fan of the show. smile.gif

Pretty deep, Dreamer.

I'm sure Yahtzee would be treated like a normal person or 'one of the guys', as he puts it, here. I get a strange feeling that if the Queen of England, George Bush and Elton John came in here they would be treated with as much respect as the rest of us.
But then, there's always that group that goes 'lul i qoted yatze'. I've seen it happen before, when someone tries to join the conversation someone did exactly that, though with better spelling and grammer.

What I'm saying is, we're not the sort of group to jump all over someone because of how famous they are or what they've done. It's just not us. Or at least I hope we all have the maturity not to turn into a mob of screaming fan boys just because someone we think is cool posts something.

Admittedly, when he sums up my feelings perfectly on a certain subject, I will use a quote from him. But I won't revel in it, going "hey look see what i did". The term "clusterfuck" has become a more prominent feature in my vocabulary mainly thanks to Mr. Croshaw. As has occasionally saying "fission mucking accomplished".

But that's acceptable. Quoting someone is different to drawing attention to how retarded you are. You use comments that he has said, the people I refer to just do it because they think it makes them cooler.

DreamerM, are you concerned about Yahtzee being known as a one trick pony or worried about him not being able to go on a forum without leaving a trail of pathetic fanboys?

Yahtzee's a big boy, he doesn't need me to be "concerned" about him.

It might be a case of "be careful what you wish for." Yahtz wanted his big break that'd let him be creative and keep doing the stuff he likes doing, and he got it, and now, it seems, he does nothing but complain about it.

...Well...That's overstating. After all, he was perfectly polite to ME and I freaked the hell out of him. But I bet he wishes he had more fans of the "smart, observant" variety and less of the "lolz i quted YATZI!" variety.

I honestly don't think he's complaining so much as being sarcastic. But I could be wrong (this happens a lot, by the way).

When I read texts of any kind, I try to visualize a voice to go with the words, be it a narrator's voice and character voices for books, or just random voices to go with people's posts. The latter usually causes misinterpretations because I may not catch the right "tone of voice" so-to-speak.

He's a celebrity, and an internet celebrity, at that. Intelligent fans are really far too much to ask.

Guy should write books and novels.

Guy should also try his local shooting range.

I take offense at your usage of the word "Idiot" to describe people who aren't familiar with the entirety of a minor celebrities work.

I am sure he would prefer assholes who follow him around during conventions so as to draw a picture of him that is of less then average quality.

I hope you take your head out of your ass and realise that not all anonymous assholes are/were bad.

"I felt insulted until I realized that the people trying to mock me were the same intellectual titans who claimed that people would be thrown out of skyscrapers and feudalism would be re-institutionalized if service cartels don't keep getting political favors and regulations are cut down to only a few thousand pages worth, that being able to take a walk in the park is worth driving your nation's economy into the ground, that sexual orientation is a choice that can be changed at a whim, that problems caused by having institutions can be solved by introducing more institutions or strengthening the existing ones that are causing the problems, and many more profound pearls of wisdom. I no longer feel insulted because I now feel grateful for being alive and witnessing such deep conclusions from my fellows."
