listening to Smashing Pumpkins' "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" (which, IMHO, was their finest album,..Siamese Dream would be the runner up)

..I realize how talented James Iha is, and how influential he was to the overall sound of the band.

Its sad that they are no longer together,..and Corgan hasnt seen the same level of success since.

Zwan anyone?

I just saw something that both baffled and amused me greatly: a campus police officer on a segway.

Cop. On a SEGWAY.

He was just pacing/rolling back and forth on it behind the station, and I couldn't stop starring until he got off. Then I started twisting around to see if anyone else was as entranced by the sight.

Nobody cared.

Damn. They're wasting your campus' money on Segways for your campus safety officers? I thought it was only my idiot school. Just think, every one of those is five thousand dollars of completely wasted money that could be going to get better facilities.

In the same way how I now refuse to use the computer networks at my college. They waste money on Novell Netware and set it up in an unreliable way to open or make account changes overnight. It is so restrictive that I can't even use right click. When someone makes a mistake forgetting to open an account I have to wait 24 hours. Then they talk about lessons being like express trains "once you're late I don't want to hear excuses. It doesn't matter, you missed the lesson as far as I am concerned." I arrive on time all the time and it's all right for them to fall back, make mistakes and keep me waiting in my work they set out lazily on the network for me to collect in the library. Then they don't want people using their laptops in the college to connect to their network to collect the work even from the library from the ports under the floor. It is just a waste of time to me.

They now got the message that any board work must be printed on paper for me to do before some arrangement can be sorted out.

They also exploit coloured people into taking low paid jobs such as parking attendants and security guards at the college as they use magnetic door guards.

Remembering instantly now about 13 years ago when I had a dream about waking up with a white swan on my bed.

That day was a disaster.

I was trying to scrub a sticky tea stain out of the carpet earlier and marveling at how much brown gunk was staining the wet dish towel (and paper towels, and napkins...) I was using without it showing any signs of getting cleaner, and it only just hit me a few minutes ago: this carpet is I don't know how many decades old. How much crap am I really trying to clean up? What the hell am I scrubbing?!

Oh, it's nasty...

Could you request maintenance to clean your carpets? Supposedly we can do that here, but we haven't gotten around to doing it yet. Our carpet's about like yours, so we went to the clearance fabric section of Wal*Mart and bought a whole bunch to use as rugs. tongue.gif

The custodians don't clean inside the actual rooms, that's left entirely up to us (and what kind of college student steam-cleans their carpets? rolleyes.gif )

Yeah, room cleaning is up to us, too, but I've heard rumours that we can get a carpet cleaning from maintenance (not custodial) if it's really bad. Kinda like they'll change out the filter when it gets to the point that walking in the room makes you want to throw up (I swear it had twenty years worth of mildew on that thing). sick.gif

Body parts are worth a lot of money. I'm thinking of selling my left foot. I mean, I hardly ever use it anyway, and a pegleg would make for an entertaining story.

But there ain't no whales so we tell tall tales
And sing a whaling tune

I downloaded the soundtrack to Sweeney Todd because I wanted to at least be a bit familiar with it before the Tim Burton movie comes out (Johnny Depp fangirliness is on the rise again...), and now I can't stop listening to it. Really, I've had it on The Ballad of Sweeney Todd for over a half hour now.

Anyone care for a little priest?
