I actually don't think that "y'all" is terribly unreasonable. other languages have words for "you, plural" (hola, ustedes!) so I think it's kind of silly that we don't.

Actually, you're the lucky ones, because this heavily influences the way people talk to each other. English is just the best conversational language in my opinion, since you can simply adress people with a common "you" instead of switching to some formalized version that makes people feel inferior or superior.

As some one who cannot tell "sie" and "Sie" apart unless she's reading it, I agree.
Then again, I could just suck at any language that isn't English. That may explain why I can get so anal about it - it's the only language I have, so I can't afford to screw it up!

A little less actively kicking the shit out of one another no matter what's going on. Even in futbol Norte Americana, you're only allowed to pummel the guy with the football. In hockey they just hit everyone they don't like whenever they feel like it. I understand why fights break out. I'd want to hit every prick back so they could feel it.
