Mr. & Mrs. Chefelf

This past Sunday, Jen and I got married. It had been about 15-16 months in the making since we got engaged last March. It has been an incredible week. While we did an excellent job of not letting the stress get to us, last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday were extremely stressful. After that, the whole weekend was just amazing and -- thanks to some exceptional family, friends, and vendors -- we were really able to enjoy the day of the wedding.

Strangely it still hasn't really sunken in that it was our wedding. I mean, we both agree that we were at a wedding, but it oddly feels like we were guests at someone else's event. You know, except for all the people taking pictures of us. Oh, and this time they let us cut the cake!

After so much work and planning and running around, I feel a bit like Inigo Montoya at the end of The Princess Bride. I've been in the wedding-planning business for so long, I don't know what to do with the rest of my life.

I had a long, rambling blog-entry in mind to describe the wedding but perhaps it is best just to leave it at that. Here's one of our favorite gifts, a painting painted for us by Laura.

I just watched "The Princess Bride" this past weekend! I have been saying "My name is Indigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!" all week!

WOW! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Chefelf! That's so awesome and great! I wish you an entire lifetime of happiness together. Awesome picture, and now you can just do what you did before without having to plan a wedding. And you know, all that married people stuff... dry.gif

I have to say this, though: it's actually "Iņigo" though it does sound like "Indigo" at times. Or "Indego." Either way, fabulous movie.

Bliomey. Congratulations Lord and Lady De'Elf! Can we expect to see his and her beverage reviews soon?

Inigo error fixed. That'll teach me to trust a very sloppy Google search.

I don't know if Jen will be joining me on any beverage reviews any time soon. However, I did pick up a new drink, Froid on our way back into the city the day after the wedding. Maybe that will be up sometime soon. smile.gif

Congrats, newlyweds!!!!!!!

Im very proud to see that you had a long engagement, as I firmly believe that long engagements are essential to the health of any matrimonial commitments.

This day in age, it really takes much time, devotion and communication to get to really know and understand someone, you cant jump the gun on it, you feel it in your heart when the time is right to walk down the aisle.

Not everyone believes in long engagements, in fact-sadly, some fiancees will question if their partner has cold feet or is afraid of commitment if they dont wed within a given timeframe following proposal/engagement.

I know this firsthand..my ex was quite impatient, and left me cause she thought i was having cold feet (which wasnt the case at all, i ..just like you..prefer a long engagement before exchanging vows)

I feel a one year engagement should be the minimum timeframe. you shouldnt wed until you can honestly be asked by anyone what your soon-to-be spouse would do in any given situation or circumstance that you are inquired with by a neutral party. if you can not affirmly state/answer with confidence how your partner would react to the given question..then its not time to wed just yet

It takes a lot of time to really get to know someone these days...it really does

Ok Mireaux. Your potential spouse just learned that his/her brother has been called to serve in the Gulf. He's not planning to go; instead he plans to escape to Peru (Canada's no good anymore; they'll extricate). He doesn't know enough Spanish to get by, so he decides on a quicky marriage to a gal he met a few years back in IRC chat. She knows enough Spanish, plus she has relatives down there who can help out until they get settled. Your fiance(e) is asked to throw a going-away party. What's on the table?

PS: Congrats again Chef and Mrs Chef. I think that picture is hillarious and I can just imagine you now stuck having to hang it somewhere prominent every time Laura comes to visit.

Do you really have wallpaper like that?

It's good to see you have your priorities in line. First wedding, then beverage, and everything else is just an afterthought. smile.gif Well, congratulations to the two of you.
