He's got it right about the voice acting. I was so underwhelmed by it that I mostly went around killing everyone as covertly as I could to avoid getting caught.

I did the same for Hitman.

Heh. One of my favorite things about WoW is the fast travel system. It's good for taking screencaps, BSing with friends, or you know, getting that small bit of food you forgot to eat for the last 10+ hours.

That's an addiction. Seek help immediately. No, don't hesitate because you're halfway to the next level. Get help immediately!

For the most part beyond the hooting and hollering of some people, Oblivion's at least pretty good quality. It took Morrowind (one of my favorite games), debugged it, improved the combat, and increased the cinematic quality. While it's fun to play, I do think that if they couldn't find more than one or two voice actors per race, then they should have kept it to text like in Morrowind. Of course it had to be ported to 360, so text had to be replaced with spoken dialogue because most 360 owners are illiterate douches (I own one too, doesn't mean I can't complain, though).

One thing I did like about Morrowind that didn't really make it into Oblivion was the atmosphere. There was just something about Vardenfell that was more interesting than Cyrodil. It seemed more mysterious (at the risk of sounding like a geek), and more fun to explore. I just couldn't get it out of my head that it felt like I was just walking around in the medieval version of my homestate of Pennsylvania the entire time.

Oblivion is better in the combat and graphics area, but falls behind in everything else. All aspects have been overly simplified. Replay value suffers because of the excessively generic skills (what, no spears? WTF) and the player being able to max them out with little effort; the purpose of leveling up is killed by the dynamically leveling mobs and the retarded use of major and minor skills; the main story is unoriginal and very predictable; the player is not motivated to explore because of fast traveling and level-based loot in dungeons; as Yahtzee said, characters are about as believable as the election promises of an opposition party (stolen from Fog Juice); etc. etc. etc. It is fun to play, but I still prefer Morrowind with the enhanced graphics mods.

Luckily, if you have a PC it isn't too terribly difficult to find a slew of mods that make the game the way you want it to be. I personally have level scaling turned off. That's the most ridiculous part of the game to me. You never get the feeling that you're becoming more powerful than every bandit in the land and you never feel like you're going to be in terrible danger.

Again, luckily, mods.

There are actually mods out for Morrowind now to make it *look* like Oblivion, graphics-wise. Same old scenery from Morrowind, just better looking.

Excuse me! Did no one inform these guys they were making an RPG? I walked into a house to start excercising my adventurous rights, and the next thing I know a bunch of guards are beating me to death? WTF? I know it's realistic, but that just turned me off to the whole series. Even KOTOR doesnt give you DS points for stealing stuff from peoples houses. It's just common sense.
i really dont ok?
