Being a new but avid fan of the Zero Punctuation series, I was amazed at how Yahtzee has the power to use his popularity to get other games shunned or ignored by the mainstream media/reviewers into the limelight and give a review which emphasises aspects that some gamers really care for. In the case of Painkiller, the fact that it just does what an Old School FPS should do, made me sit up and take interest, am going to go buy it now, but would love to hear alternate games, new or old that Yahtzee approves of. As for criticisms that his reviews can be extremely subjective, all I can say is f**k off, it isn't like he starts out to aim for complete disembodied objectivity and I'm guessing the honesty is the reason for his success. Please give us more.

You could have posted this into the Painkiller topic, methinks.

Welcome to Fully Ramblomatic, by the way.

I've disagreed with Yahtzee on more then one occasion.
Has it stopped me watching FR? Heck no.
If anything, I think Yahtzee would have more respect for someone who has their opinion for their own reasons rather then someone who changes it to agree with whatever Yahtzee says.
Then again, when you hear a contrasting opinion, it's good to see where the other guy is coming from, and maybe slightly alter your thinking if you find he has a good point, but that's the same with anything in this world. Welcome to life.

Welcome to the forums!

I can't really form an opinion on any of the games Yahtzee's mentioned because I'm never going to play them. A lot of them just don't interest me, others I don't have the reflexes for, and the rest I just can't afford/be bothered to upgrade my PC to run them or buy the consoles they belong to. smile.gif

So, mainly, I just watch Zero Punctuation for the hilarity. And also because IsecretlywanttofuckYahtzeeOHSHITISAIDTHATOUTLOUD?!

Welcome to life is a bit bold. Apart from that you're right. I think people who have objection to Yahtzee's opinion and hold a good argument for their objection, would have respect. Well, more then people who blindly follow like sheep or more then people who say 'I'm not a fanboy, but'.

Way to completely neglect my awesome thread which is 100 times more interesting and relevant to Yahtzee than this infantile opinionated nonsense. I even printscreened and cropped a steam ad for you people.

Life-lesson, Patch. The world contains dictionaries. The internet, in particular, contains many. If you look up words you don't know the meaning of, you don't look like a plonker by asking what they mean.

Painkiller is an awsome shooter, it doesn't matter how old it is.

I'm well aware of dictionaries. But a dictionary can not always put it into context. Sycophant may be put as something that makes little sense to the current conversation. Also, people have different definitions on the word so I would like to hear the different uses.

But whatever.

Also, life lesson, SNAFU.

C'mon, just admit that you're too lazy and can't be bothered to look it up. That's perfectly fine.
