My present to Yahtzee this year is to not email him or try to contact him in any fashion.

I'm sure he would be touched, if only he ever knew.

Yeah, Game On should never do this again, and stick to being an exhibition.

I realize that you're not trying to offend, but as a member of one of the organising groups I'm annoyed at the suggestion that events like that shouldn't be run because we like to think that we don't need to screen every attendee.

Several talks and industry/education oriented open days were held over the past few months with the goal of trying to raise the profile of games and gamers and the reception has been good with alot of industry input and media profile, its just unfortunate that this event was marred by the polar opposite of the image that we want the industry to have

Sorry bout the sermon but that was bugging me

I was making a half-joking suggestion that all gamers are stupid wankers to some degree. I've been to Game On, and all I could see was rooms upon rooms filled with coin-operated arcade machines, handheld consoles, some massive Japanese mech controls, and even a Jaguar. This, really, is the point of the exhibition. Of course lectures on gaming are fun and interesting but I have my ideas on the kind of audience it attracts and to be quite frank it isn't one I'd want to associate with. An event such as that is never going to be Question Time.

Personally, I think we should just leave the poor guy alone to do his thing.

Maybe he can get some more spare time to write another novela since that is what he wants to do (if you consider him as an artist and not a troll/reviewer).

Or, if we all stop mailing him and give him some more time, he might do something for all humanity. Like, building a time machine and traveling back through time, erasing many of humanity's mistakes and making this world a better place:

I'm still trying to decide if that is hilarious or creepy due to too much effort, heh.

Effort? Its just took me a few seconds. No 'effort' there.

I get what you're saying Adam, but the games industry won't grow by sticking antiquated consoles in a room. They're in the exhibit to inspire people to work in the industry hence grow, as well as show Joe Bloggs that games are a bigger thing than a few closet weirdos shooting aliens. That's the point of the exhibit, to educate the public and grow the industry
The guys at ACMI also did a fantastic job getting the local gaming community involved, and the talks, panels and special events are a great way of getting a better understanding of games, the people involved and where it's heading.

I'm not having a go at you personally mate. But i think that, even jokingly, writing it off because one panel went south due to Yatzee fanboys, is quite harsh to the guys who put so much effort putting it together.

I apologise, the effort of the organisers is always appreciated, but the public community has yet to grow up.

I was haunted by this question my father asked me a long time ago.

"What have you learned from these? What is the use of these videogames?"

I know the answer now.
