Urgh, its like every other game that has received hype in the general media. Halo 3 even made it onto commercial TV in advertising, and that made me extremely sceptical. I also noticed an ad for God of War: Chains of Olympus. Same story really. As soon as everyone goes on about how good a game is going to be, the "critics" pre-write their reviews in anticipation of this gift from heaven. Then it doesn't quite matter how inadequate it is, it always gets the good reviews. Gamespot gave it a perfect 10. I mean come on, that's putting it on the same level as Zelda: Ocarina of Time. And, to be frank, its just not there. Not even close.
And trust Australia to censor the game. I mean, we already have to pay $120 if I want to get it, which is about double the price of every other country in the world, and I cant order it from the US because its not the right "region". Why the keep insisting on region coding games is a mystery (though PS3 isn't, apparently).
Hang on, hang on. I don't know about you, but I have heard plenty of good reports accross the board about GTA 4 from lots of people. Yahtzee also liked it, behind the sarcasm, I'm fairly sure. I don't think it's been hyped that much, or maybe thats just me.
I mean, apart from the controversy and the ads, I can't remember much hype at all. Halo had this aura of anticipation. God of War, meh. I've heard less hype about that series then GTA. Now, it's kind of impossible to judge whether GTA and OoT are on the same level, as they're too completely different games.
Equally, some people like it, some don't. I found OoT too easy, even when I was young. The concept of Master Quest was brilliant, but it came far too late. Still, I did enjoy it. I enjoyed GTA 2 more.
'Not even close' to being the same as OoT? I think it could be, and I haven't played it. From previous experience of GTA and what I've heard I personally believe the game could be quite good, especially for free travel.
