Normally I avoid amateur games made with Game Maker because of their tendency of being shit, but after a friend's recommendation, I decided to give An Untitled Story a try. I'm glad I did.
It reminded me of the Dizzy games (you start off as an egg), but it's not about picking items up and taking them to somewhere else, just a lot of platforming, solving puzzles and fighting bosses. This is presented so well, and the environment/bosses are so varied that after one gets over their possibly negative first impressions (for instance, the graphics look childish at first, but they are quite charming and well done, if you give it a closer look), it turns out to be a cool little platforming adventure.
Actually, "little" is an inappropriate word in this case, 'cos the game is EPIC, it has about 200-300 rooms to navigate, tons of secrets, skills to learn, minigames, etc. Took me about 10 hours to get to 93%, and I had to use a FAQ in the end, because the game is just cluttered with secret passages, events and stuff. Although if you want to rush, you can complete the game with 50something percent, but it's a bitch if you don't have a lot of health upgrades and the necessary skills. Give it a try.

Gave it a shot. Tough and fun. Definite time waster at work. Nice find, David.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the game actually has a plot, but it's not exactly obvious for quite a while.

Well, I'm off work sick at the moment, so this looks like it might be something fun to dabble with between trips to the toilet and Armadillo Run.
