While normally I would disagree saying the average person shouldn't be expected to understand the compexity of Anglo-Saxon English, I will agree with you as I don't believe those laws are very correct. Some of them are vague and they don't really make a good guide for ettiquete.

Well, Josh, the two comments you have are very different. You're using the example of wanting to do, whereas it's actually making fun of it.
For example, if I want to make fun of tennis, do I need to know the rules of it? No. I can just have a series of balls flying back and forth in a humorous fashion.
If I wanted to speak Anglo-Saxon English I would need to learn the rules. But if I was using it in a parody then it's not neccesary. The same goes for parodies of foreign countries. I don't think there was all that much research when Mike Myers spoke catonese in Waynes World.

How hard would it have been to look on wikipedia and figure out that "thou shalt not have outdoor activities before thee" means "you shall not have outdoor activities before you"? What the hell does that even mean? It's retarded. I mean, I know what he was going for but come on! This isn't an attempt at a funny post in a forum, this is something he is selling. For money.

This is pretty freakin' basic English, people.

I believe that the surface structure of that particular sentence would look like "Remember to keep the release dates holy." instead of "Remember to keep to the holy release dates.".
Well, it's not that I give a darn about Buckley, but English syntax is a fun thing to screw around with. And yeah, I think he fucked it up too, but that's not exactly a surprise, seeing how much he can't be bothered to actually look into things.

Okay, seriously now, I'm agreeing with you about the ignorant jackass bit, but then you're no longer arguing whether he needs to know uses of Anglo-Saxon English to parody it. The fact that he's selling a parody is irrelevent, otherwise you'd have to apply the same logic to every parody movie where it didn't parody correctly.

No, I was pointing out the obvious (this newest "poster" you can buy sucks), not trying to have an argument.

And yes, you are wrong. Even if you don't do the research to parody something properly, you at least do your absolute best to hide your lack of aptitude. This is something he probably threw together in the space of an afternoon for his "Church of Gaming" -- which is ridiculous in and of itself -- and I can see that absolutely no relaxation was spared in its creation.

Look at it this way, if the average Joe Schmoe can't tell that he hasn't used correct Anglo-Saxon English, then does it matter if he's wrong? Hardly. There are cop shows that have done less research then him.
Say someone wanted to parody ZP. Does that mean they have to research how Yahtzee does it, the exact style? Or do they just go 'Well, I've seen it before and I'll base it off what I assume I know.'
Your argument is that the person doing the parody should research the style of ZP, and follow that exact style rather then just assuming you know how it's done.
Parodies aren't always done in the bounds of reality, and you're arguing that they should be.

One last thing. I've heard Monty Python do a parody using this kind of language, and they didn't get it correctly. Are you going to call them arrogant/stupid/etc?

I can't remember what the Monty Python thing was called. I had a CD with that on it. It was to do with a guy, or a saint, I forget which, being annointed and then pleasured by a bunch of women. Then god takes them away. Then the guy calls god 'a rotten bastard' and god sends down an angel to comfort him.
I'm assuming it wasn't a television skit.
