Granted, a prince whose family hasn't been in power since the late 1700s, but still!
Real Persian Prince favored for PoP role

He's also a model, actor, the executive of a production studio, world-class swordsman and equestrian. He also worked at the UN.

He's also a bit of a poet. Just look at some of the quotes from this guy:

"I have nothing to fear, for I have nothing to hide. A man who lives without secrets, is one who lives in peace."

"At the end of the day... regardless of what you've accomplished... it is only the good deeds that truly matter. How many have you aided, how many lives have you effected."

"Who at the best knows in the end the triumphs of high achievements and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly."

"Never grow overconfident. Never grow arrogant... for then you will grow careless and your enemies will exploit your weakness."

Wow.
It's not stalking! It's artistic reference!

Uuh... blink.gif Iran.

That patch of ground used to be called Persia way back in the day.

Ah, how wonderfully ironic, or something to that effect. Free media buzz is always good for movies based on games, so that more people go see them and are invariably disappointed since movies based on games suck. And this will certainly generate some free media buzz. Bring on the misery, I say. Use ironically ironic casting to generate buzz to trick gullible non-gamers and non-fans to go see this movie and instill themselves with the belief that video games and all that has to do with them suck.

But I'm probably just putting the worst face on things. devil.gif

It's actually quite appropriate and interesting. But mostly just ironic.

And I really hope that I don't make a habit of asking this, but why is this in fullyramblomatic forums again? I'm not trying to get it moved or anything, I just legitimately want to know what things like batman anime and a prince playing a prince have to do with Yahtzee and his website. I don't wish to mini-mod, but I feel like I'm missing something here.

Why not talk about things fans of Yahtzee like besides Yahtzee?

The movie will suck like every videogame movie. FF:AC has to be the best videogame movie ever and it really wasn't even that great.

Silent Hill worked pretty well as a movie and it was based on a video game.

And casting a Persian prince in PoP is not an example of irony.
"I had a lot of different ideas. At one point, Luke, Leia and Ben were all going to be little people, and we did screen tests to see if we could do that." -George Lucas, in STAR WARS: the Annotated Screenplays (p197).

AC was not a "video game movie" as such, in the sense that it was not an adaptation, it was a direct continuation of it's core franchise by the same people behind the game in the first place.

Games have yet to have a good Adaptation.

Although I haven't seen it myself, I've heard that the Hitman movie was a good adaptation. I'm also curious if the movie version of Max Payne will ever get done, it has the makings of a great film.

It was called Iran before GWB was even born.
"I felt insulted until I realized that the people trying to mock me were the same intellectual titans who claimed that people would be thrown out of skyscrapers and feudalism would be re-institutionalized if service cartels don't keep getting political favors and regulations are cut down to only a few thousand pages worth, that being able to take a walk in the park is worth driving your nation's economy into the ground, that sexual orientation is a choice that can be changed at a whim, that problems caused by having institutions can be solved by introducing more institutions or strengthening the existing ones that are causing the problems, and many more profound pearls of wisdom. I no longer feel insulted because I now feel grateful for being alive and witnessing such deep conclusions from my fellows."
-Jimmy McTavern, 1938.
