I think they're just facts and he should have known better than to stay with her due to how she was as a person...

The only thing I know about Dominicans is that they don't roll as good cigars or crepes as Cubans do. And that's from a Seinfeld episode, so I'm being rather facetious.

That sounds quite racist.  I'm sure you didn't mean something so horrible as the fact that she was Dominican should have alerted you to the fact that this would be a bad decision?

Nothing racist about it, I assure you. I'm part Irish/Puerto Rican/Colombian. My father AND my mother warned me since I was a teenager to watch out for Dominican females. They're beautiful, but known to break hearts. I guess mother does know best after all. sad.gif

Yeah, that's not racist at all... Generalizing about an entire race, and treating them differently to boot...

For fuck's sake spoon. We're allowed to make generalizations about an entire gender, but when a guy who actually DATED a gal from DR makes a comment about her race, he's "racist?" He DATED her! How can he hate her race? (Also: please acknowledge that DR is not a "race," but a "nationality," and national characteristics do exist. They are formed by the national popular culture.)

Here's a generalization that sums up what I get from what MC is saying (this may not be what she meant): milquetoast suck-up boys who will do and be anything for their everything girl all really hold her as a trophy and a possession, and feel personally wronged when she enjoys the attention of another guy. And trophy gals get loads of attention, so if all you have in common is that you think the world of her and will do anything for her and she is so beautiful and wonderful, then she is going to leave you some day and you're going to turn into a creepy whining prick. Sounds like the best thing she could say about you was "you are so nice to me," like you were each there for each other: she liked the attention and devotion of a nice guy, and you loved having sex with a gal who made you feel like a rock star (no, I didn't see her picture, but I'm getting an impression from the things you say that you think she was God's gift).

I have seen it before. My advice for everyone: have sex with people if you are attracted to their faces and bodies, fall in love with people if you go nuts over the things you can talk about and do together. If it's one-sided, walk. I mean, you don't have to date people you find unattractive either, but I stopped long ago going after any gal based only on looks. That shit is doomed.

Get your words right damnit! Spoon I know you have read my post on the three definitions. Discrimination is the only one that is actually "wrong", because it is an action. It may stem from racism and prejudice, but they only concern ways of thinking. Honestly, I think I am better than most people in any religion, non-religion, faith, etc. That is religious racism; however, I do not treat them any differently because of that belief.

Having finally learned the correctness of the word usage, it pisses me off whenever some one messes it up (which people do quite often). I'm going to end up being such a stickler about it. Sorry everyone, although, we all do happen to try to correct each other in one way or another. It involves having differences of opinions.

Wow I'm slow. Civ I like your advice thumbsup.gif

Apparently writing about JM here is his secret weakness. Muwahaha!!!! Now I have leverage over him and am another step closer towards my goal of world domination.

Yeah, it's more of a generalization about a culture than a race. It's less unfair, and as long as you understand that there's a possibility that a person might be like that, and given the culture, it's more likely, but not treat that person like she is how you've assumed she might be until you know for sure, I don't have that much of a problem with it.

Yeah, here's a case in point. Let's say my buddy Slade wanted to set me up with a gal he knew, a gal I'd never met.

Slade: You'll really like her. She's cool, witty, way better tlooking than you (if that's possible!), and she loves bitching about movies.

Civ: Really? Better looking, eh? That's a tall order!

Slade: I hear you. If I could fit her in to my rotation, I would, but all three -

Civ: All right, quit bragging. What else can you tell me?

Slade: Well, she's Canadian; she's from Montreal.

Civ: Oh, forget it then. I don't like gals who smoke.

Sorrrrry. Maybe I take it a little personally because one of my good friends was Dominican, and was murdered, and I hate prejudice of any kind, and so all combined it hit a chord with me. (I also happen to believe it is not "right" to think you are better than someone because of silly things like nationality/race, even if you don't get a chance to discriminate. And really, what is race but a broader term for nationality? How do you define what your "race" is? The color of your skin? I know the definitions and differences from racism to discrimination and what-not; I just tend to try to use words that I know everyone else will understand.)

Really didn't mean to piss anyone off. Sorry.

I dont know if any of you guys know this, but there's always been tension between the Hispanic nationalities. The Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Columbians, Cubans, and especially the Mexicans...all share resentment towards one another for one reason or another. I myself, never understood it. Maybe its because of my mixed heritage, but it was just never a big deal to me. As long as you spoke Spanish, I had love for you. Even if you didnt speak Spanish, I still had love for you. smile.gif

but yeah, it wasnt racist at all. I recall a post someone made in this thread, where he said he hated all things Korean after his ex girlfriend broke his heart. Thats kind of how I feel right now. Anytime I see a Dominican flag it reminds me of her, and all the bullshit I've gone through with her. I dont necessarily hate Dominicans, mind you. I'm just going through some things right now.

Civ, your candor is refreshing. These last couple weeks have been strange for me. It's almost like a veil is being lifted from over my face and I'm starting to understand things clearly. Like Neo when he took the red pill. My only fear is that she'll come back crying like she did last time, and I'll be too weak to tell her no with authority. I guess I'll just read this thread over and over if that happens.

to be honest with you, we hadnt had sex all year this year. It wasnt even about that to me anyways. Sex wasnt important at all. I really loved the girl. I just wanted to patch things up between us first and foremost. Everything else was secondary. I didnt pressure her for ass or anything like that. I just wanted to be with her. I dont know if that makes me sound like a sap, but I felt like there's not too many guys out there who feel the same way about her that I do, and probably never will.

Really didn't mean to piss anyone off.  Sorry.

That's my problem of being Italian and communicating solely through the written word. Most people can read me like a book, because I use a lot of body language to convey messages. The second paragraph was a horrible attempt at some lighthearted humor. Most of the time, for anything that looks like I may not be serious about, I'm probably not being very serious about it anyways. Sorry for coming off so harshly, but please try to use the words correctly. I stress it only because I hear so many politicians and leaders using the words incorrectly and that disgusts me.

Drug lord homeys!

It's ok to hate a race after a girl from that race dumps you. I went through it. The feeling goes away after awhile.

I don't think so. I it was just with her. Her Koreaness is what I found sexy. It stood out. I don't know how to explain it really.

Dating other races is not the issue it's other cultures. She was very korean. I was very Canadian.

It's old news now. I heard she got a boy friend and everything, and I could careless.

Did you hate Koreans, or just hate how they reminded you of your girlfriend?

And it is indeed confusing trying to discern between culture and race, especially with how politically correct everybody needs to be these days.
