something that has always deeply intrigued me is paranormal communication, specifically communication with the deceased.

at some point in our lives we've certainly heard someone claiming that they have somehow, someway, they have been contacted by a deceased loved one.

while this has never happened to me, the abundance of varied reports cant seem to be denied. there's a fair share of books on the shelves at the bookstores, a fair number of websites dedicated to this, and a good number of people overall claiming they have been contacted

what exactly is going on? im not sure, but I do have to believe that something is happening.

there are a few websites that strike my interest in this:

http://www.aaevp.com/

http://theshadowlands.net/ghostwav.htm

they seem to deal more specifically with Electronic Voice Phenomenon, and even provide some purported recordings of afterlife communication. If youve never heard one of these audio clips before, it could cause a few tiny hairs on your back to stand up.

Sure, im skeptical, just like you may be.. Could this be a hoax? ...possibly. Are such claims simply faux? Who knows. But why would so many diligently dedicate themselves to this study? I never heard of any Paranormal/Parapsychic billionaires,..i dont think they are in it for the money, but i do believe that within the number of people out there that are honestly dedicating themselves to this study, that there are indeed those slimeballs that do nothing but set up hoaxes.

I hate to delve into religion, but within the context of the bible somewhere, it specifically forbids attempting to make contact with the deceased, basically indicating that all you would achieve as results would be establishing contact with demons.

why would the holy bible even indicate this? (if anyone knows specifically what part of the bible im referring to, please be kind enough to post the section)

Im interested in knowing if any other chefelfers out there believe in ghosts at all, or if youve been contacted by any deceased loved one, or the like.

I really don't want to get into this subject, myself, but I will try to explain your question about the biblical references. The Bible thing is basically this: Once someone is dead, their spirit no longer dwells on this world. There are, however, "familiar spirits" - demons - who pretend to be the spirits of people from this world who died. They pretend to be a "ghost" so that they can manipulate people through fear, emotions, whatever. So if someone thinks they are communicating with the dead, they are really just communicating with a demon pretending to be that dead person. That's the Biblical answer to communing with the dead.

That movie with Michael Keaton was all I need to know on this subject, thanks. I don't want to get assraped by those freaky shadow people.

One thing I will say is that those shows where people take a bunch of fancy science gizmos and go skulking around looking for ghosts, they're just a bunch of schmucks with uncalibrated equipment they don't know how to use.

well, if you want to go kill a police officer, youll get some time in prison..and then you can have some other less scary guys assrape you, if thats how you get your jollies.

Peter Brady was by far the ugliest Brady kid on the "Brady Bunch". I mean, they were all pretty ugly, and the fact that the Brady dad wanted to always take the boys out on overnight camping trips just a tad bit too often, gave me the creeps.

I acknowledge that it seems arroagant to shoot something down without conceding any middle ground, but this is all horseshit. Spirits live in computers and use their sound systems to create badly garbled voices with limited two-to-three word messages? This is something worthy of a society?

I think that one woman's testimonial is interesting: she tells the society that her son Braden died, and they AFTERWARDS contact her to tell her that they have messages from and about Braden on their computers. And one of the recordings mention The Big Circle, a group referenced by their society? Does this sound peculiar to anyone else?

(Aside: The Catholics have a tradition of having Mary appear to peasant girls in the middle of nowhere to justify changes in doctrine or to resolve theological debates, the best example being the appearance to Bernadette at Lourdes, whereupon she introduced herself as "The Immaculate Conception." That title was somethign being debated by cardinals at that very time.)

Dead people don't migrate to any other plane. Consciousness is a phenomenon of the neural network of our brains. We die, that network is gone, and we are gone. Make the most of your lives.
"I had a lot of different ideas. At one point, Luke, Leia and Ben were all going to be little people, and we did screen tests to see if we could do that." -George Lucas, in STAR WARS: the Annotated Screenplays (p197).

I don't want to be assraped period unless leather harnesses and whips are involved, but now I've said too much.

I'm open to the possibilities of weirdness like psychic powers and ghosts, but people who market that sort of stuff are most likely frauds.

and it seems youve certainly left your options for this entertainment wide open, as youve specified no gender preferences.
