Okay you two, honestly, enough with the stupid images. I think you can get your point across without their aid. The images do nothing for your own image...

The men in little cars defense beats all other images.

Is it just me, or does Rudy Guliani look like Larry David?
We're whalers on the moon
We carry a harpoon
But there ain't no whales so we tell tall tales
And sing a whaling tune

So this baby, while still inside its mother, murdered his twin brother and STOLE HIS PENIS.

That is one badass baby.

To gain this weapon you must seek out a thread filled with madness and patrolled by the worst trolls imaginable. I lived through that thread, but I was younger and stronger then. I wouldnt advise you to seek it out... Although I did use the weapon only one more time, during a mighty debate with Pope Sladicus over whether it was nice for people to cut off their own legs.

The man eating a watermelon picture is an apt counter to the old men in tiny cars picture.

And to recap, Sharia law would be silly and unrealistic to implement in the UK, and there isn't much of a chance of this happening, according to many. Jordan thinks Islam is shit and that its higher degree of institutionalization around the world and currently embedded in it and its practices is also dangerous, Spoon agrees that the institutionalization is bad, but doesn't want to condemn the whole religion and its followers (and her quest for PC/fairness is gay), Civ thinks many religions are shit in general (without naming any in particular), some people don't like some of the immigration results in the UK, and JM buggered an earthquake.

Now can we actually debate a little bit in here or stop, or do I have to close the topic to end the total nonsense? (Usually partial nonsense is alright.)

Yeah! My first attempt at posting a debate and it gets locked! I don’t know if I should be proud or not. I feel like this is some sort of chefelf right of passage.

The fact if the matter is I have no problem with immigration I just don’t like people who come here purely for economic reasons and try to bring their old countries with them. I just don’t understand how if they loved their old countries that much they would have any reason for leaving other than pure greed. Its been barely 40 years since we managed to get rid of our own repressive religious laws so I’m surprised that some people think I’m out of order disagreeing with some one else coming along and trying to implement their in its place. The message here is if you want to be British I will stand at Dover and welcome you with open arms. And then we can go to the pub for a pint and a good moan about Gordon Brown. wink.gif

I'm fairly certain the topic isn't locked, as I'm presently posting in it, and did not need to unlock it...

I'd imagine those people miss the familiarity of their culture and language. Leaving your own country and then wanting special laws that apply to only you and your subgroup is absurd, I most certainly agree, as is any law based upon religious beliefs, as I've stated earlier.

I wouldn't call it "greed" when they immigrate because they are starving to death in their own country but hear they might be able to keep their family fed in a different country. And I understand a want for keeping their own culture somewhat in tact. But not to the extent of what that article proposes. For example, the Indians here where I live (there are a bunch) do well at it. They keep their culture very well but they're not demanding their own courts or anything ridiculous like that. They assimilate where they need to (laws, language, etc.), and they keep their culture where it's most important.

There some, at least a few, who do it to exploit the system, like people who hop the border from Mexico and get jobs without having to pay any taxes, or come to the U.S. and have children so that they can get around having to wait in line with everyone else. With the way people are, dishonesty is inevitable. What makes it a problem, though, is that it makes life harder for other immigrants; aside from that, I don't see it as being quite so serious as everyone's making it out to be.

A few threads related to this have been hijacked. Is this thread being taken seriously? I don't want to start another one but feel I should since this one seems exhausted.

I spend a lot of time writing up a post for this thread but am now hesitant to waste it here if nobody is interested in debating it.
