Argh. Don't even joke about it.

Many of those movies (ENTER THE NINJA, REVENGE OF THE NINJA, MASTER NINJA, NINJA III: THE DOMINATION, NINJA GRAFFITI, PULP NINJA) are available on DVD, but not all on region 2, if that's an issue for you; check eBay.

And yes to any lurkers, I made those last two up.

Wakka chicka wakka chicka wakka chicka wakka chicka! Master Ninja Theme Song!

And if your DVD player doesn't support all regions, you haven't hacked it enough.

LttS: Apparently neon was big in the 80s and carried over and got worse into the nineties. It's been mentioned quite a few times in this thread already.

Neon is back in the electronic music scene. They're calling it "nu rave" which is as bad as, if not worse than "electronica". I own a couple of shirts with hints of neon in them (ie: a black t-shirt with lots of little neon coloured tapes on it), but can't understand the appeal of wearing a solid neon green t-shirt.

Remember all those Frankie shirts with the huge helvetica?

Don't think I've seen it stated this clearly: it's a 20 year thing. In the 1970s, Happy Days et al was in style. In the 1980s, there was a big 1960s revival; the jetsons made a comeback, Beatles cds started to be released. in the 1990s, the 70s enjoyed a resurgence (70s show, disco was popular again). The past few years, the 80s have been popular to a degree, with the I love the 80s series'. You'll get your Nineties on in 5 years or so.

Good lord.

See... Bad News = 80s.

Do you have the Bad News Album?

Yes, I know that. I'm not saying that there's NOTHING good game out of the 80s. And, yes, I do have the album. There are a lot of really good Bad News videos on YouTube as well.

Quick: Name one band from the 70s that released equal or better music in the 80s. Since this is a matter of opinion then I think you may give me a few examples but chances are I won't agree.

Challenge!

The 90s are making their comeback early though. I'm already spotting some trends in fashion that are disturbingly similar to the grunge look (heavy layers, flannel, torn jeans, and of course the ever-enduring Converse Chuck Taylor All Star). I think within five years, the 90s revival will have already passed us by.

Also, bands from the 70s that released great music in the 80s:
The Clash - "Combat Rock"
The Ramones - "End Of The Century"
Talking Heads - "Remain In Light" (Their best album! How could you overlook this one?)
Motörhead - "Ace Of Spades" & "No Sleep Til Hammersmith" (The best live metal album ever)
Prince - "1999", "Purple Rain", "Parade"
Dead Kennedys - Their entire output was in the 80s, but they formed in 1978.
Husker Du - Same deal as Dead Kennedys. Formed in January 1979, disbanded in 1987.
Throbbing Gristle - "Heathen Earth"
and, reiterating Barend's assertions: GARY NUMAN!

Shall I go on?

As I said, no. Prince was barely in the 70's though I'd agree he did some great stuff in the 80s. I was thinking more along the lines of bands that were strong for a majority of the 70s such as Aerosmith (sucked BIG TIME in the 80s).

This is all off topic, of course. I agree with Spoon and barend's assertions that the we have to be at least 10 years out of the decade before it becomes retro.

UGH on both the Clash and Dead Kennedys. And flannel? Seriously? Are you planning on cutting down some trees some time soon? Flannel is only acceptable if you're wearing a kilt, and wearing a kilt takes a special breed to be acceptable. Torn jeans are fine as long as you just let them get worn out and you don't care. People who buy pre-ripped jeans don't deserve to live, but if you're too lazy for proper clothing upkeep (i.e. grunge), that's cool. tongue.gif

What does flannel have to do with kilts?
