QUOTE (TruJade @ Jan 16 2008, 07:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So he broke the law!
Its not like he killed someone
and then lied about it
Oh lord i think we can forgive that
what would you have done?

If anything the masses should be outraged
that the president had the gaul
to have an affair while in office.
why aren't people mad about that
But no, its all about the fact he lied, get over it

So what you're saying is no one is their own person
b/c their opinions maybe affected by those close to them
Dude your logic is loopy
you have completely lost me

If he lied about that, what else has he lied about?

QUOTE (civilian_number_two @ Jan 16 2008, 08:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It was an invasion of privacy, of the highest order, to take a figure so much in the public eye and force him under oath to speak about a personal matter. Not since McCarthy were people asked so forcefully to focus their intelligence on the irrelevant at the expense of all real issues. It was dirty politics, it was a smear campaign initiated by politicians who could not harm him in the other ways they'd tried, and it was an unAmerican thing to do. People talk about how Nixon was a dirty politician, but he looked into people's campaign contributions and political strategies, not into their bedrooms. Hoover tried to bring down Martin Luther King by saying he was immoral for sleeping with a white woman. He sent FBI agents after him to tape him having sex. That is how politics is done in the United States, by manipulating the tabloid-addled minds of the press and its customers.

Lying under oath when asked about a personal matter isn't a crime. It's a defence of privacy; it's damned patriotic. Trying to say "he lied about nookie, therefore he not only MAY have but ultimately MUST have lied about everything else" is just to say that you are a Republican and you liked the politics of shame used by the Republicans in that instance. Shame on you.

Lying about having sex and breaking the very law you swear to uphold in order to maintain or improve your public image is not patriotic, its downright selfish.

By your logic, no one is their own person unless they have no friends or family. And I'd say that's even more sad (and unfit to run a country, seeing as the lack of people skills). Which category do you fit into, Snake?

I am writing about Jm in my signature because apparently it's an effective method of ignoring him.

Me? Its hard to put people in categories. But if I must then I can put everyone in three very general categories. Those who serve a greater purpose by dying. Those who serve a greater purpose by living. And those who serve a greater purpose by deciding who lives and who dies.

We will see what category I fall under in the not too distant future.

Because I have no idea. You can only observe someone’s personality and abilities from a third person perspective.

They couldn't nail Hoffa on anything but a tax charge, right?
But he's innocent of all other suggested crimes, right?

State the case, blah blah. I say, watch the video, blah blah.

Why not. Once she's elected, it won't be allowable...

The Clintons are a dynasty now? Will there have to be a second Guliani elected before we see a video about his corruption and mob ties? Or perhaps one exists already? I'll quest later.

Also, I'll check it out when I get home. We can't get to YouTube from work. and yeah, CNN sucks.

Please do. I appreciate the Fairness Doctrine as much as any other "I want to change the world for the better" Journalism student.

One of my immediate family members really buys into that stuff. I've looked into it and some of it is really weird, but there's just not enough fact out there for me to really be able to see if it's a conspiracy or just coincidence. I'll have to do further research. Especially if she wins.

By the 8th episode or so, the bodies pile up like no coincidence I've seen. But yeah, the believers really are made out to be kooks aren't they.

Well, the only way I've had it presented to me, the correlation between their deaths and the Clintons wasn't clear or could have been fabricated. I wasn't saying any believers are kooks, just that I haven't seen a convincing argument yet. But it has been enough to make me question and look into it. I haven't watched but a short clip of that thing you linked, though; but when I have more time I'll check it out (and then check their facts best I can).

Spoon, I didn't mean to infer that you think I'm a kook. The self-deprecating humor was for the benefit of those who'll never even consider the correlations.

Im a politics student and in the course of my studies I've come up with a theory of my own. It goes like this, all world leaders can be seperated in to one or both of the following categories, warmongers or adulterers. If you can think of a world leader that doesnt fit into either of those categories the chanses are he/she is an adulterer but was never publicly exposed. Its more likely that than manageing to have a secret war which isnt impossible. I can think of many examples Clinton = adulterer, Bush = warmonger. In the UK John Major = adulterer, Tony Blair = warmonger. I dont know about you guys but I would rather have an adulterer anyday. tongue.gif
