Before we point out the guy in the movie not being British, I think we ought to first beat the Tribly name to death first.

'tis a foul day for fanfics and unoriginal reenactments indeed.

A quite ordinary day, one might argue.

Maybe, but still. I find it hard to beleive that a simple type error could be misinterpreted in such a fantastically stupid manner.
Anti-American sentiment notwithstanding.

Smashed up my sanity.
Smashed up my integrity.
Smashed up what I believed in,
Smashed up what's left of me.
Smashed up my everything,
Smashed up all I thought was true,
'gonna smash myself to pieces,
I don't know what else to do.

While the majority of Americans are brain-dead egotistical attention-whoring lemming retards...

The silent minority of Americans who believe in non-interventionist (not isolationist) foreign policy, smaller government and reducing the size and scope of our military -- which is comprised nearly entirely of idiots pretending they're Master Chief while mowing down civilians -- would appreciate it if you would not lump us in with the portion of the population that lowers the SAT average for the rest of us.

Lets stay on topic and not turn this into an American bashing thread because we've all seen those before and the internet can do without one more forum full of "my countrys better than yours".

Anyway I dont think that an American cant play Trilby perhaps they should at least try to do an English accent (as bad as other countries usualy are at it). I mean it is fairly centric to Trilbys charicter that he's a British gentleman thief.

I only mentioned it out of principle. I apologize if it sidetracks anyone.

Actually, American voice actors are a large part of the small percentage of American actors that aren't shitty people in general. If Hugh Laurie can be a sardonic American physician, I see no reason why a talented American couldn't play Trilby.

I'd still rather see a Brit do the job.

I reckon Johnny Depp could be a decent Trilby/Tribly.

Anyway, it's not just any British accent you want, but one in specific. I mean, you don't expect Trilby to say stuff like "Defoe's 'ard, 'e's a well 'ard geezer".

Even if it would be much better than Tribly.

Oh god no, trust me. I do know the different British accents.

I'll remember that. smile.gif
But damnit I'm keeping that reply saved somewhere, I loved the Master Chief reference, haha.
Don't think for a second that I am blind to the fact that the majority of my country are equally as stupid.
More so, in fact, all our government does is lovingly fondle yours.

But yes. Back on track.
A Trilby voice actor would have to be from a southern county of England (Not too far south, though a Trilby with a Cornish accent would be funny).
By that I mean Essex and by Essex I mean not cockney, just as neutral an accent as possible.

I want Trilby to be either Newcastle, Wales, West Country or Glaswegian. These would all be hilarious if done to proper stereotypes. But as a gentleman thief, I imagine Trilby to have either a sort of Winchester or Buckinghamshire "proper" accent, or the accent of one who has never lived in the same place or with the same people for long, i.e. totally discernible from one place to another, but not weird in any way. But an Archers-esque Trilby would certainly make me smile.
