There's been a lot of talk about the democratic primary that I've heard, but who will be selected to beat Hilary Clinton or lose to Barack Obama? I haven't followed the Republican primary too much except to point out who should be lynched, but now that Tom "Let's nuke Mecca" Tancredo is out of the race, things look a bit brighter. At the moment I don't think I'd mind too much to see a Huckabee presidency. I can't stand McCain or Giuliani though.

Reason for edit:: So that a new thread wouldn't have to be made - primaries are over...

No Romney, please.

I can already tell you that even though Ron Paul is a favourite among college kids, he won't make it. He's running under the republican ticket but he is most assuredly a Libertarian.

All I can say is I don't want Romney. I live in Massachusetts. I've seen what he can do on a small scale. I sure as hell don't want to see him in charge of a whole nation.

I like Huckabee as well. But I know nothing about anyone's policies. I'm what you call a "Daily Show Student" I only know what they tell me.

Are any of the candidates that have a chance fundamentally different from one another?

Obviously you haven’t thought about this very much otherwise you would know that all democratic politicians have the same fundamental principles.

Then why think about it? I'm sure they'll tell you whom to vote for.

Huckabee is my man at this point. He's articulate, funny, and to the point.

That's odd we should agree about something in politics. It'll also be a bit harder for the US to spread terror around the world if he wins. "Huckabee is coming to smoke you out, dead or alive!" Also, speaking of that, I've never seen him wear a 5 gallon hat, so it'll be nice having a leader who doesnt view the world as a giant game of cowboys and indians. Or, even if he does, at least not the kind of game of cowboys and indians where the indians have electrodes attached to their genitals.

Free drugs? Since when would a Libertarian do anything but recoil in horror at the thought of free anything?

The Red primary looks even more dismal than the Blue one. A Libertarian, A Mormon, a War Hawk, and "I was terrible and corrupt mayor when some crazy people crashed planes into two buildings in my city." Until we ditch the Electoral College and the two party system, and are allowed to choose from candidates that have some little shreds of integrity, we're pretty fucked no matter what. sad.gif

The only way to stop America from being a two-party system is if you destroy the monopoly the republicans and democrats have on the media. Good luck with that.
