The Federal Reserve is part privately owned, part government owned. Ron Paul does have a point that it has direct access to adjusting the economy via interest rates and printer more fiat money and that much power in the hands of anyone is dangerous. Of course, being a Libertarian, Ron Paul would love to keep the government out of everything and let all private institutions police themselves. And he's wanted to keep our borders safe by putting snipers along the Mexico border to shoot potential illegal aliens when they try to cross.

I surely hope that if Obama is elected, he does not choose the same cabinet. We need something new, not more of the same, whether it's red or blue.

At least Bill can't be on the cabinet if Hillary wins. Not that he wouldn't have all kinds of sway anyway.

I think that since Edwards dropped out, Obama has a better chance of winning the democratic slot - most of the people who would have voted for Edwards (but now can't) would rather have Obama than Hillary, the way I understand it. So a lot of those votes will go towards him. At least that's what I'm hoping.

I'm also thinking that maybe part of the reason Edwards dropped out of the race (besides knowing he was gonna lose) is because maybe there was talk of having him be Obama's running mate. Who knows...

I've heard it was because the media refused to give him media coverage because their big sell (since last year) has been black dude vs. chick, clash of the titans presidential debate raaar. I know not.

He himself basically said it was because he was gonna lose, so he wanted to build some more Habitat for Humanities houses... Even though he responded to his third place in the SC primary by saying "I'll still run blah blah."

And it "had nothing to do with the fact that his wife is dying from cancer." That always did rub me the wrong way - if your wife is home dying from cancer, shouldn't you spend the last bit of time you'll ever have with her, with her???

I also find it funny the things Obama and Clinton said about him after he dropped out - you'd think he died, not gave them less competition...

When was the last time America had a bipartisan government?

Works great from the Sympathy angle, doesn't it? Not good enough, apparently- We already have our chosen victim here.

Super tuesday next week, I'm considering doing the democrat thing and voting for Obama over Huckabee. MH is my clear favorite- he's certainly inspiring and humorous, if not electable. At least by voting for Obama, I'd be doing about all I could do to stop Clinton from getting the nomination and eventually that other thing.

Haha, I know a few people who either did that or almost did that. But then I also know some people who voted Huckabee/McCain mostly to keep Romney from getting the nomination.

When Clinton first announced her plans to run, I never would have thought she'd be doing this well this far in... Unforunately, she really knows how to work the soccer mom vote. Going on Tyra and acting just like one of the girl friends? Brilliant. Sigh.

I've read a few articles on the so-called Obamacans. It's definately interesting to see a guy backed by Ted Kennedy, but who can still reach out to Republican voters and not get anyone too pissed off. Of course some people like Kerry didnt get anyone too pissed off either, but they didnt arouse any passion at all. Dean had the opposite problem wherein he got democrats fired up to vote, and republicans fired up to kill. It'll be interesting to see how many republicans actually do go for Obama in the big race.

It'll depend a whole lot on how the media spins it, surely.

I think sometimes Obama's just getting votes because he's Hillary's biggest (well, now, only) contender. Which is fine by me.

So I have a question - does anyone other than my family have silly nicknames for any of the candidates? Maybe not necessarily to make fun of them, but just for fun and silliness.

Mit Romney sounds like a kind of ice cream.

Obama's too easy.

And I call Hillary "Ellen Degeneres"
We're whalers on the moon
We carry a harpoon
But there ain't no whales so we tell tall tales
And sing a whaling tune

Do things like "stooge", "meathead", and "Hitler" count?

Mike Huckabee. He's the homophobe pig, if I remember correctly.

I actually don't know much else about any of the other candidates; I only know some things about the ones I really dislike.
