what are your new years resolutions and do you really plan to stick to them?

For 2008 i have a couple of them.

* Stop buying video games: I have a ton of video games, and ive become somewhat of a video game addict. i cant seem to stop, especially if i see a great bargain. fortunately, generation seven doesnt impress me as much as it should. the technology seems great, but it doesnt come across to me as being a serious need to upgrade to it, when the technology of the sixth generation suffices me just fine. it should be noted that i have about 12 consoles with close to 1,000 games..yeah.

* Lose weight: everyone needs to shed a few pounds here and there. Ill admit that i have an active gym membership that i havent exactly made the best use of. 2008 will commit me to going there on a more regular basis.

* downsize belongings and incorporate a more artistic touch: my apartment is plagued by me owning many items that i simply no longer use and/or need. everything to clothes, electronics, you name it. it would be great to downsize a lot of this, and narrow it down to only the items i truly need. sometimes i go to someones house, and it seems like that they barely own anything at all in compared to my possessions. i also want to create my own motif/theme for my home. something that adds a much needs artistic touch to my place. i am thinking seriously about a stylish black lacquer touch with a slight asian style to it. think large art with bamboo or other stylish paintings on it.

*dont buy things unless i truly need them: sometimes i find myself buying things that i really dont need. its almost like if spending money needlessly has become a sort of small hobby to me. i dont do this on a large scale, so it can really be dubbbed as wasting away my money. but i know this all adds up over time, and i want to curb it a lot.

*become more socially involved: maintain better communication through my current contacts, and gain some new friends along the way. the way i see this, communication will become a high virtue in 2008.

- Finish my BA in Business and Technical Writing

- Get into grad school for an MS in Marine Policy and possibly a JD on the side

- Publish something I've been writing

- Possibly acquire a girlfriend or reasonable imitation thereof

- Play more video games

That should keep me busy.

* get better grades in my classes - work on having a better attention span and avoid getting distracted so easily.
* stop biting my nails, again.
and that's about it

Remember Emu's face, people; one day it's going to be on the news alongside a headline about blowing some landmark to smithereens, and then we can all sigh and say, "She was such a normal person".....

-Don't drop out of school (I've been tempted)
-Get less B's
-Get a car
-Don't kill the new roommate

That's all I've come up with for now.

Lolwut? You're in higher education, are you not? If so, what are you majoring in? Because at the university I go to, we usually just aim to pass, although that is sometimes a very challenging task, when like 2 people pass from 50 examinees. We usually shoot people who whine about not having passed an exam with a perfect mark on sight. (Especially when everyone else has failed that particular exam.)

Art major. Very subjective, A's are next to impossible. If my GPR drops too low I lose academic scholarships and have to drop out.

Hm...

- Get a job- one with reasonable hours, good pay and the arseholes somewhere far, far away would be preferable. My last job was as a baker's apprentice, for $5.65 AUD an hour, with a rude and up-himself old fuckwit whose frequent yelling and blaming others for his own mistakes could make even Jack Nicholson's arse cheeks pucker.

- Find a nice place and move in with my ladyfriend. Somewhere close to the uni so she doesn't have to worry about the retarded public transportation system.

- Once above has been accomplished, get a kitty. One that will be content to laze around the house all day; as opposed to this ball of hair on rockets my housemate has.

- Get back into Scions of Fate. I miss that game and if I don't feed my pet tiger soon she's going to eat me the moment I log on.

- Finally, start a savings account for those rainy days.
I'm not pessimistic; I've just realised that the light at the end of the tunnel is an incoming train.

I already beat both Resident Evil 4 and Cubivore (I decided at the end of December that they were going to be resolutions), which leaves me with needing to finally finish Viewtiful Joe 2, Tales of Symphonia, and Skies of Arcadia Legends. I also need to finish Warcraft III and then play and finish Frozen Throne.

-Finish writing something long for a change.
-Eat more healthily.
-Exercise.
-Graduate and get the hell out of this stupid university.
-Get a decent job that makes use of my degree and skillset, while being an enjoyable challenge and room for promotions/raises.
-Head South to be closer to my girlfriend.
-Go commando more often.
-Freshen up and enhance my meager skills as a pianist.
-Recycle some of my old t-shirts and find new ones worthy of replacing said old shirts.

That should just about do it.

Here goes:

-Get all A's (I'm going to do it and I don't care what anyone or David-kyo says)
-Stop biting Emu's nails
-Stop mocking Emu with my New Year's Resolutions
-Don't do anything stupid. Ever.

There's lots of things I should do, but I'll keep it simple this year, and hone it down to about four.

- Pass my driving test, ideally first time.
- Get some semblance of a permenant job. I'm actually getting temping work now, so that's a start.
-- As a mini one from those two, get a car. I have the money to buy a small reliable one, I just need the regular income for the petrol, insurance, etc, and to be able to drive it.
- Move out of my parents' house. I'm 21, goddamnit.

Also,... no I won't tell the fourth/fifth one, I've already told one person and that alone may have jinxed it. Sssh. wink.gif
When you lose your calm, you feed your anger.

I just want to eat better (I'm developing an eating disorder, apparently... News to me) and maybe consider thinking about potentially quitting smoking at some point. Not actually quitting, just considering the idea that it could eventually be a possibility.

But for now you're only considering that you might possibly thinking about it, eventually, having some potential?
