I'm quite simply amazed that nothing of a festive nature has appeared anywhere on the 'Life. I for one can let Cheffers off of doing his usual nifty Christmas logo, since he's literally just redesigned the site, but its just under a week left and we need a "what are you doing for Christmas?" thread. So here it is.

I'm playing a frightening new game called "Christmas with my girlfriend and her family". She's got a stocking full of shiny presents I know she wants (but she doesn't wink.gif) and I even got her an advent calendar because her mum didn't. Not very helpful, since I get there at noon on Christmas Eve, but what can you do.

Also, my santa hat, which I will procure a picture of. I've had it for four years now, and its huge and awesome.

Should I have found her a hat? What y'all doing?

that's sweet! and I'm sure the occasion won't be too frightening.

I'm going home! and really looking forward to it at this point. I'll be spending about a week with my mom, who just moved into a new house and so is planning a housewarming party for after Christmas, and about another week with my dad, who lives in the town where I went to high school so I'll have the opportunity to spend New Years with friends who are also home for the break.

The boy is going home too, which happens to mean that he'll be on the other side of the country. I haven't figured out what to get him yet, since I had plans for an awesome project to make for him but it's not really the kind of thing I can work on at home, since it involves tools and solder and people who actually know a thing or two about electrical things who I can pester with my questions, all of which are more readily found here at school than at home, so more likely that will end up being a random end-of-january present instead.

In the mean time, there's just one more final exam to go....

Our first Xmas in the new home. I did up three 6 foot tall candy canes (sheet metal, spray paint and red vinyl) for the front yard (beg me and I'll post pics), and tonight we're going to a restored movie palace of the 1920s to watch "Meet Me in St. Louis," my wife's favorite film.

I'll post more later, knuckleheads. Thanks for the thread Chyld. Let's see the hat!

You should get her a hat so you can both wear one. smile.gif

I'm going over to my boyfriend's parents' place to celebrate the holidays, and then after a few days there he's coming with me to celebrate with my family. Both of our families are so alike it's SCARY, so I'm not afraid of anything, really. wub.gif I'm working really hard on his present, though -- I'm getting him the Orange Box among other things, so his present is like an 'Aperture Labs' recruiting package with things wrapped as training manuals and stuff. Haha.

I'm going home for less than the usual two pathetic weeks break RIT gives us due to me having to work and all. It was decided that I lack the fundage to visit my girlfriend over her birthday, so that's going to suck so much ass it's immesurable, especially since the next time I'll get to see her is late February/early March. I did get her some nifty presents, though. And the 'rents already got the tree, and I won't get anything cool because I can't think of anything I want and money is very tight all over, and I may even get something annoying like a surplus of clothes because none of my relatives will take "money" or "gift cards" as a Christmas gift, and my mom has decided I need new jeans. (I disagree.) So we'll see how it goes. It's looking spectacularly meh, though I do get to see my immediate family and will not have to work for a week and a half.
This space for rent. Inquire within.

I'm at home, hooray; celebrating like any temporarily unchurched non-traditional Christian family would? ... And I was supposed to travel to Charleston with my two best girlfriends but one came down with strep so that might not happen after all. sad.gif And I'm severely lacking in transportation here (all our cars = broked; most my friends = out of town) so while it's nice to be with my family, I'm predicting some severe cabin fever coming up...

But I'll get to play with my brother's cool new toys! Yay!
I am writing about Jm in my signature because apparently it's an effective method of ignoring him.

I'm visiting my folks, as my every couple of months normal routine dictates. I'll head back, see the family, hang out and get thrashed with friends, and reflect a bit on life. It hasn't been that long, but I really need a breath of fresh air, especially as I'm moving to a new apartment next month.

Because of budget cutbacks, we will probably not be celebrating capitalist Christmas this year but we will still be celebrating spiritual Christmas.

Well I'm currently unemployed and on a special sort of treatment list which means I get paid to stay indoors and leave society alone; and said pay is barely enough to cover my bills. But luckily I still have enough to do a few things.

I've already bought a few things, all of which were of course for my ladyfriend (which in my case is the norm anyway... I'm probably spoiling that woman but oh well) and I plan to get some more things. My younger sister is going to be up here for the holidays, chances are my father will be as well, and that's about it. Ladyfriend will be staying in a luxury resort hotel for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and I can't go with because I have to spend some time with my sister - I'm miffed about that but it can't really be helped; especially since I haven't seen my sister since July. So more than likely I will be sitting here at home with my housemate and my cat, drinking vodka and wearing nothing more than a Santa hat and a beer label to cover what little dignity I have left.

God, I'm looking forward to it.
I'm not pessimistic; I've just realised that the light at the end of the tunnel is an incoming train.

I'll be serving a High Tridentine Christmas Eve Midnight Mass complete with choir and incense. Whee.

Then following it up with possibly the best Christmas ever, since my brother will be in Korea.

Are you an Acolyte? is it Roman or Anglican? I'm nosy, but I sang in an Episcopal choir for 15 terrific years and am familiar with liturgical ritual to some degree. Sorry you'll be missing your bubba, Cyzyk.

Roman Catholic all the way. Yes, I'm an acolyte, or to use fancy words, altar boy. I do it because there isn't anyone else suitable.

And I won't be missing my brother, I've had twenty borderline abusive years with him, and having one off is a nice change.

You know what, you're absolutely right, Chyld. I totally missed the boat this year. I've been really busy and with the new forum design haven't had a chance to put anything up. Being that it's Dec. 20th it may be a little late now.

Sorry. I hope next year will be a little better.

This year's fine. It's new to me. And it has that bleak midwinter tone going for it.

You're busy enough to be entitled. I didn't send out Christmas Cards this year. sad.gif
