Those cards are awesome. As in I'm sitting here with a boner the size of Paraguay awesome. Thank you very much for kindling my interest in this game. After reading through these posts, may I make a few suggestions? There are spoilers in here, so as always they are whited out.

And of course, since you were so good to name the program you used to make those cards, I just may do these myself as well.

- As far as the timeline goes, I think it'd be better if you kept all events parallel if at all possible; seeing as the games themselves do too. That way it allows for more nonlinearity while playing, and allows players to throw monkey wrenches where applicable; say for example, if the Welder was on the board, locating and destroying DeFoe's Idol would get rid of him as per the events of 7DAS, but would also add a few token to the Doom track seeing as how one of the three aspects of John Defoe has been destroyed.

- Make Trilby a protagonist. I'm not entirely sure on the rules and tips and tricks of the game, but if there is a system that allows you to buy items and weaponry, then perhaps make one of Trilby's abilities along those lines seeing as he's a master thief? Something like forfeit a turn to gain X amount of money while on a residency or whatnot.

- If Trilby does indeed become a protagonist, make a Madness card that reflects on the time-space distortion present in TN; such as permanently reducing maximum sanity until either Pill Bottle is found to restore it temporarily, or the Invigorated Pill Bottle to remove aforementioned Madness completely.

- Going in with the parallel timelines, perhaps have the Tall Man as Chzo's Herald, with an upgrade to the New Prince possible if certain conditions are met? In this case being the destruction of Defoe's Idol and DeFoe Mansion, as well as having Dacabe nearby as some sort of event or helper.

- Speaking of helpers, seeing as they probably can't be protagonists (one trying to remain impartial and the other being monster meat), perhaps have AJ and the Caretaker in as well? Perhaps AJ gives information on the Manor and on the Welder, whilst the Caretaker can help the player out of a potentially sticky situation or maybe heal them a little.

- Once again, parallel timelines. Welder as a Maniac or such would be fun; so let's throw in Undead Barry, Doctor Taylor, and that unfortunate chick with the glasses from 7DAS make an appearance. Barry as a Maniac, Taylor as a means of decreasing health and the chick as a hallucination that drops sanity.

- Hm. Caretaker stuff gives me an idea. Maybe have Malcom as an accessory or something to DeFoe, and Frehorn's Blade as a pickup card. Use stabby object on Malcom, and hey presto the Caretaker appears to help the player as a once-off(much like that stupid little thingy that instantly summoned Toad in the Mario Party games.

- Last one - have Lenkmann as a hindrance. Say his card is drawn. For X amount of turns Defoe/Tall Man/New Prince are impossible to track as Lenky is laying down the bullshit like any good overzealous cultist. And if Trilby is unlucky enough to land on Lenky's square, Trilby loses health and sanity and the Tall Man is summoned if he isn't already on the board.

That's all from me. This game sounds many degrees of fantastic and I can't wait to get my mitts on it and make a full XDAS conversion. Cheers again Keldi; and consider me owing you a beer.

I'm not pessimistic; I've just realised that the light at the end of the tunnel is an incoming train.

I don't have much to say except for Arkham Horror is the first boardgame I haven't left lying around gathering dust after the first time I played it.

Ok so that and Scrabble. And maybe Rifts if that counts as a board game..wait never mind it has no 'board' ...

Seriously though, thank you Keldi for spreading the word. If there was a way to play online, I'd ask you to play because I'sa working on an XDAS board but it's all in the head still.

oh. update: blush.gif Legion has a Trilby character card he made. It is a challenge to play as, even in the plain Cthulu mythos board.

Anyway thanks again, Keldi!

*praise and suggestions*

Mix Silent Hill, Sam Fisher and alone In The Dark together, make a model with a Grey suit and a Trilby, give him an eagle like nose and thin eyes, stretch the eyes, add bony cheeks, put in weapons from 1920s in his inventory, use Microsoft Sam as voice for Trilby and speakonia for other characters, reverse them and put on subtitles for them instead (to create atmosphere for flashbacks), gang of occultists with guns wearing masks, NO LOVE INTERESTS (Trilby might be homosexual or nothing-sexual), battle with the two princes', extreme gore and blood, black humor and a level where Trilby has to escape from a burning building with the African artifact later being blown out a window.

And there you have it, a perfect 3-D Trilby game that would never happen.

He's probably more like Agent 47 in the Hitman movie.

Uh...well he's more sneaky sneaky shooty shooty, until they went all 'Grr, I arh conflicted and deep and shit' if I remember rightly.

I think someone like...whatshisface, someone Dread Pirate Roberts'y - Cary Elwes would suit it if you had to pick a voice.

I would say Yahtzee himself, but that could be seen as a little ego-wanky.

Sneaking sense. I mean, hell, he should be able to do parkour, Kung-Fu and fencing and shit, not just walking around, reading books and falling flat on his face.

There should be some unique effects in a horror game where you control a dude wearin' a hat fighting monsters. Like sudden gravity shifts, immediate change of scenario at certain spots or scene where it gives the player a wrong sense of safety/danger.

Here is an effect I came up with. Guy gets blown out the window in real time speed, suddenly, the same camera makes a sudden skip to the next day (where the aftermath of the incident are visible) or the future and then we suddenly come back to the where the guy was fallin' out the window. This is done in real time and makes it unpredictable for the audience to guess what might happen.

Easy.

I'm a little confused by your example. Do you mean that you would have it skip ahead to the day giving an ominous feel about what actually happened and giving a few moments for the player to panic only to snap them back into falling out of the window?

I like it, provided that's what you meant.

If he could play a gay australian cowboy and a crazed clown, he could certainly play Trilby the supernatural private eye.
