and why do men get all embarressed when women bring up their monthly 'friend' (usually as an excuse to get out of stuff), when 3 out of 5 adds are for tampons?

or is that just here?

and what kind of idiot buys a pack just cause thy've got tiger skin paters on the packet? maybe if it were on the product itself....

i don't know...

I've never had any more problem with tampon commercials than I do with others.

I saw another pepsi commercial, and this time the butt of the joke is the JPL guy in "charge" of watching the mars rover. he drinks his pepsi product and missed the mars rover getting stripped of tires, wheels, everything of value save the camera.

Yes, I'm a big fan of Coca-cola. I understand how cognitive dissonance works. I'm happy with the product and feel better about my choice.

but I do sense a trend that Pepsi has to make fun of someone to appeal to their market. Keep an eye out and see what they do next in their commercials.

why in the pepsi comercials to they always hold the can like 3 inches from thier face and CGI in the pepsi guzzling in.

does real pepsi pouring not look as refeshing?

is hiring some computer dude to spend hours rendering virtual liquid, cheaper than buying a can of pepsin and pouring it?

seriously...

They don't do that anymore. They just force the spokesperson to hold the can at a very awkward angle so that the logo is in clear view at all times.

Hey Barend, you're from Australia, right?

Do you remember Solo commercials with that idiot (the crocodile hunter's older less famous cousin), who'd do the most stupid things like wrestling with crocodiles or jumping off waterfalls, etc, to get his can of Solo back?

And then when he actually openned the can and drank the stuff, he'd pour it all down his neck.

That was pretty stupid too, I always thought.

I know I'm a little late here, but I don't understand Barend's critique of tampon commercials. Yeah, girls typically learn about their period from school or family (or Judy Blume books), but how should that reduce the vocality of the tampon industry? The intent of commercials is to sell products, not to inform. Like you said, they show girls pouring blue liquid on pads--it's not like a professor comes on with a mortarboard and a pointer and a blackboard with a diagram of the uterus.

But wouldn't you agree that Tampon ads are pointless? They all say they work better than other tampons.. great....

Every product out there says it's the best of the range. We don't need heaps of ads for toiletries that say the same thing too.

So they can take off deodorant ads and toilet paper ads...

wait a moment... one of those toilet paper ads had a really cute puppy dog in it that liked the soft texture of the paper so he'd roll himself up in it and it was so adorable rolleyes.gif oh....

Um.... I have just completely de-railed my argument and my train of thought.

So, ah, whatever.... I haven't watched TV for over a year now anyway so it doesn't bother me. smile.gif

C'est la vie capitaliste. What can be advertised, will. Unless you have a feasible plan for the redesign of advertising as we know it, I don't think you have a leg to stand on.

Bottom line: Tampons make boys uncomfortable. Girls think boys should grow up and be thankful that they only have to watch the commercials, & don't have to spend their hard-earned cash on pricey underwear lining.

& if you watch Spike TV almost exclusively like I do, you never see them anyway.
