All the games are freeware so people can do anything they like with them. Do a fangame if you must. Personally I prefer to make up my own stories.

Just because you release them as freeware, it doesn't mean you don't have any rights over them.

I've been trying to make my own game with AGS. "Trying" as in all I've done is make a couple crappy backgrounds in MS paint and a character's shoe, at which point I blew it off and stopped doing anything. I always tell people about the kickass storyline it has. ...That's about all it has.
If anybody is willing to do everything for me except write the story, I'd be delighted. Really. Your name would be first in the credits.

Funny, I was thinking of doing a fanfic about a detective assigned to catch Trilby, and his story involves the AOT plot, and then it goes over to England, where the poor detective ends up getting involved in the Chzo Mythos. And I was thinking of involving The Company (Who are rather pissed off after the events of AOT, but have no idea what they're getting into), Elizabeth Perota, and the purpose of the XJ Unit. About time I do a fanfic that doesn't involve crossovers.

Well, we all love Trilby and the Chzo mythos I suppose so if you screw it up you'd better be ready for torches and pitchforks 
Seriously though, it would be kind of hard to involve most elements from the Trilby stories since every character is more or less accounte for until the 24th century or so... And remember, AOT is set before the XDAS so Trilby couldn't reasonably be involved with the Chzo mythos before then, unless he just happened to forget it afterwards.
I suppose the Tall Man and Chzo could be used though, since it would be reasonable to assume they've been up to loads of no good at all times, but Trilby could at most be used as a plothook that doesn't get involved with the main plot at all

I was going to make a "spin-off" of the Chzo Mythos, where you're Simone Taylor before the whole Willem DeFoe fiasco, and you're a master news anchor. There's some stealthy AOT elements with your cameraman to get the best shots without security killing you, race segments that involve beating rival news stations to big scoops, and minigames that involve being a whore to get information out of people. I was really excited to start working on it, but then I realized I have no skill and it was a fucking terrible idea. Then I started sobbing on my sandwich made out of Thanksgiving leftovers.
