I'm going to see it in....50 minutes. Will report back later with a response that no one will care about!
And I'm off! *swoops*

UPDATE:
So I thought it was pretty alright. Nothing too special, but not exactly bad either. I'd recommend it for a nice enjoyable way to kill a couple of hours.

I enjoyed it, having only recently seen The Omega Man as well. Personally, I preferred most of The Omega Man save the stupid retarded kid subplot, yet as an overall cinematic experience, I am Legend delivered a better consistant experience (with a very well placed intermission) and especially so if it would've cut like the last two minutes. A more open ending would have been much more enjoyable.

All in all, enjoyable, but The Omega Man should be watched as well and over it, if possible.

Check out the first 100 seconds, you'll know this movie is serious like a heart attack and bad ass to boot.

Meh, it was alright. I liked the concept, and Will Smith’s performance was entirely believable. I thought they overdid the CG vampire guys. I thought the movie started out very slowly, and while seeing NY City as an overgrown wasteland was interesting for the first to minutes, but it wasn’t enough to carry the movie on, which is what it seemed like they were trying to do.

It was very stressful to sit through, and the end left me feeling very unsatisfied. Creeped out… but unsatisfied.

Generally, I liked it, but I think I would have rather waited til it came out on HBO.

Wasn't what I was expecting at all. I didn't know a whole lot about the movie going in, so I was expecting some kind of horror flick. I was wrong, lol. It was really well executed. I thought the CGI vampires were a little much too, but I read in a promo pamphlet that human actors didn't work out that well at all -- so most was forgiven.

Made me cry a LOT, though, I'm such a sucker for things like that.

LTTS: I bawled when... oh, wait... SPOILER
When he had to kill the dog, I just lost it. I got a little weepy when he was trying to get the mannequin to say hello, but it was the dog that got me. But you HAD to see it coming. The whole first half of the movie I just kept thinking, "this dog is gonna bite it, and I'm gonna cry." crying.gif I am such a baby.

I quite liked the bit where

she keeps saying that God told her to come and he has a phat go at her

I mean, at first I thought he was crazy, cos he keeps talking to himself. But then I realised, that the only reason he's not insane is because he talks to himself.

The whole time I was watching them I was wondering why they were CGI at all?

Aside from the odd case of extra wide jaw action, I don't understand why convincing actors in make up were overlooked in favour of 'Hello look at me I'm a cartoon who'll render this film unwatchable in a couple years' CGI synthespians.

well it wasn't just the dog dying but the fact that she was his only companion and otherwise utterly loyal, and he had to kill her himself. that was just heartbreakingly fucked.

I enjoyed the film over all.

But yeah enough with the 'CGI solves every problem we never had' business.

b: It really was. crying.gif And he had to kill her because she was defending him... and because he had kinda lost it with the mannequin guy. So he had to kill his companion because of his bad choices. Depressing. And then I thought, well for goodness sake, he is a Dr., and trying to find a cure, so why didn't he just lock her up with the rats or with the other vampire chick in anticipation of finding a cure? But my brother pointed out that he was kinda stuck on the floor with a rabid vampire-dog. I guess he's got a point there. It was awful, though.

I can watch The Exorcist privately on a morning after heavy drinking and cry. Hangovers make everything sad.

Ok I am reviving a old topic and this time I am saying more than two short lines. Couldn't agree more with "Sailor Abbey" here. I don't understand the need for CG in this and I think it would have been much more beleivable/enjoyable if they would have just stuck with real actors. The superhuman abilities stretched it a bit much as well. I don't know if anyone else saw the comparison in the likeness of the vampires here to the likeness of the robots in "I Robot", another Will Smith movie, but they are very, very strong. Very similar in their abilities. I thought this was a bit too obvious & too much to ignore.

Overall I liked the film, thought Will Smith was great in it, and may be one of the few who liked how it ended. One thing that never ceases to amaze me about movies like this though is that with all of the human carnage floating around, people seem to glaze right over that unfazed but yet get all sappy over an animal dying. I can understand that he was Will's only companion through most of the movie and that part is sad...but jeez people get a grip.

I cant believe I havent commented on this movie yet. I think one sentiment I've heard that I really agree with was from Brian Clevinger, basically that Will Smith always seems to play Fresh Prince of Bel Aire, and its impressive that this didnt turn into Fresh Prince Am Legend. Will Smith really did a great job with this role, and I think its more of a human story than a typical horror disaster film, so it really resonates more.
