Firstly, in regards to the question 'why is George Lucas making a live action and CGI' it's all about cashing in on it. Money. Pure and simple.

Secondly, whether or not he screws it up or makes it a great classic doesn't matter. Star Wars is dead to me...

I recently saw a preview thingy
for the CGI and i didn't hate it

but he still has a long way to go
as for Star Wars being dead to you, Paladin

its possible we may all be witness to the resurrection
i hope i don't eat those words

I was clicking channels last night and TPM was on. I fell asleep.

We don't gripe about SW much anymore.

What's there to be afraid of? GL's record on TV with Star Wars related projects is pretty solid:

Star Wars Holiday Special

Two Ewoks made for TV movies

Droids and Ewoks cartoons, not to mention The Clone Wars snippetts

(I won't mention the SPFX special showing the special effects of ESB which aired in prime time on CBS when ESB came out, because that was before the VCR and it was the only way to get a flavor for the film aside from the TOPS baseball cards which I had aplenty)

See? No need to be concerned!

Hey, I liked the Ewoks cartoon. It was one of my favorites. Of course, I was pretty small and stupid at the time, so it might have sucked. Perhaps one day I'll have to sit down and have another look. I'm sure any flaws are nothing a little puff cant fix.

The plot of KOTOR just kicks the crap out of any of the sequels, hands-down. KOTOR2 unfortunately suffered from a rushed release, but is still a pretty darn good game, overall. KOTOR3 apparently is in the works (back under Bioware).
