We don't have a thread about this, which surprises me.

I stopped looking at the updates for a few weeks, then checked in to the Mother 3 Translation news to find that Lucas is a confirmed playable character, which instantly killed my hopes of Kumatora showing up in the game, except mabye as an assist trophy. I cried manly tears.

Also single player apparently has co-op now, which is awesome. This is going to be the best fucking game ever.

Pokemon and Mario are taking over, though. There are like 6 playable characters from the Mario games, and 57 pokemon. I hope they just haven't released the info about all the characters that will eventually balance this out. But it still seems pretty cool, so far.

The pokemon thing has always been, however most have always been as part of items. The Pokemon Trainer as a playable character is a nice twist though.

I'm more looking forward to Ike. He's got Aether!

I generally don't like Fire Emblem, but I almost exclusively use Marth in Melee because he controls so well that it's like SEX. Here's hoping that Ike will at least be that good!

My first year in college, my floor played Super Smash Brothers Melee religiously. The consensus was that Marth is a cheap character to play because he requires absolutely no skill- just c-stick everyone to death. I usually played Link, which is funny because I've never played a Zelda game, but still I have fond memories of pogo-sticking people into the ceiling. You know what I'm talking about.

All these new characters, though. Sounds... messy. And since they're not letting any characters go, how many are there going to be?

The biggest surprise for me is Solid Snake is in the game. What's he going to do, hide behind a wall and break Mario's neck?

Actually he's gonna hide in a box, break necks, and then make things explode. They've already put up a lot of material for him, including a MGS stage with some interesting stuff.

And there's a number floating around I believe on new and returning characters. I can't say for certain since I don't have the sources to cite like my buddy does (who's staying up every night for the updates).
