Here's a little info on the brillant storyline: The Way is set in a linear world surrounded by mist on both sides of the line. The mist moves as time progresses, engulfing everything that doesn't move, yet constraining people from getting too far ahead. And here, in this world of people forced to spend their lives wandering, we find a man scouring The Way in search of his lost girlfriend, with no guidance except his tenacious determination to not rest until he is united with her again. And here I don't even know what tenacious means.
The character development system is quite a gem: to highlight the main characters loneliness as he continues on his quest, you the player are only capable of developing his character and attacks; whoever might happen to journey with you must look after himself. Rather than the traditional system of kill stuff -> get stronger and buy better equipment -> kill more stuff, the methods of improving your character are entirely different. Rather than getting into technical detail, let's just say it's pretty fun.
Other fun tidbits about The Way:
1. It's free.
2. There's a character named Slade. (Unfortunately, the best hotlinkable picture I can find is fanart)
Helpful Hint: Never try to write a video game review after going 36 hours without sleep. I apologize for being incoherent.
