Hey, so am I. At last, my genius is recognised!

The sandpeople had women and children. We know this because Anakin killed them how could he tell? The children might be smaller but I never saw a sandperson with breasts. Did they hike their skirts and show him some leg or something?

Also, I can see the point of wanting to kidnap a human and use her as a slave, but they didn't. They tied her to a flimsy easel for a month. It's assumed they had to feed and give her water. What for? Was she purely ornamental? I can understand them wanting the droids, you can sell those for a lot of money, but a chick who's only skills are finding non-existand mushrooms and getting randomly pregnant, you're not going to get much.

This Robot looks to me to the one that killed a bounch of Jedis and Anakin fought in the Clone Wars cartoon series. I might be wrong.

After that Dooku had a curved lightsaber (for some reason)

Dooku was given the curved handled lightsaber at the request of the actor Christopher Lee I believe. He is a trained fencer and theatrical fighter and the sabre handle was made to allow him to utilize his fencing skills during the fight sequences. From a practical point of view it makes sense. It is one hing that I actually quite liked.

Grevious, as we all know, is just another action figure.

I hope General Grievous kills Obi wan in episode three! If that happens, I am going to jump up in the theatre and cheer, (assuming I actually go to the movie, of course)

And if that does happen, I will worship George like a god!!!

Never heard this before. What's your source?

I posted the following in a tfn.net thread. The whole post can be found here

The whole design of the Dooku weapon is as beautiful as the Gurkha knife, not to mentioned the physical aesthetics of the silver and the physical parts to the weapon. The emitter guard is functional as well as appealing to the eye. The design permits both a traditional grip with the fist closed completely around the grip for a more powerful cut and a more open grip with the fingers opening more at the index finger – the French grip of a foil, or the forward grip of a serpentine-style pistol from the early days of gun handle design – which permits more control of the point.

This is a huge philosophical difference in the manner of employing the sword (it involves the evolution of a cut and thrust sword to a more dominantly point oriented style of fighting), which, perhaps, is what Reynolds (who wrote the dictionary) was trying to get at. Needless to say, as with most fights, there is little point work sword play in Dooku’s style. No lunges, no pushing of the tip toward the opponent, no in-line slides down the blade with the point, no parry ripostes, no beat attacks, no feint-disengage attacks, no coupe, etc.

It all could’ve been there, and we, the audience, would have really gotten the point weapon fighting (a la rapier) versus the traditional sword fight. Ah, again, Gillard just doesn’t have the background that Anderson had in sword fighting.

Trained threatrical fighter

Not a fan of that term these days and I have to be careful around my theatre friends. They work hard on it, but a good place to learn theatrical fencing is from fencing. Just my beef I guess.

Regarding General Grevious, there's a huge philosophical issue that stems from his cyborg status. If Lucas wanted a robot Jedi killer, why couldn't Grevious have just been a super robot? I think it's significant that despite the fact that Grevious is mostly robot, the essential essence of him is present in the brain. Is it an alien or human brain? The whole question in terms of sword fighting comes down to whether winning a sword fight is really the sum of binary calculations (zeroes and ones) or if the essence of defeating an organic with a lightsaber is with another organic.

Interestingly enough, the ILM guys who created Grevious said they were told to create a robot Jedi killer. They didn't say they were told to create a cyborg Jedi killer.

[I doubt this will be much discussed when the movie comes out.]

Well, you can bet it'll be discussed by me. While I've managed to ignore and avoid 95% of all spoilers so far, General Grievous is already on my short list of reasons to hate Episode III.

Grievous should be in that topic about unnecessary characters. No really purpose for him other than to appease the licensed toy makers.

And you know ROTS is good without seeing it how? rolleyes.gif

That's the only thing unnecessary characters in the PT are good for: action figures. Anyway, why is attention being focused on a battle droid on steroids that's supposed to be the big bad Jedi killer in ROTS, when the big bad Jedi killer is supposed to be Anakin/Vader? I've asked this question again and again, and all I get are variations of "who cares? It's gonna be kewl!!11!11"

Hey guys nice forum by the way. Im glad I finally found a place where I can discuss SW without being flamed to death by little immature pt fans.

Back on topic: When I first heard the idea for GG I was very skeptical. Your right his main reason is to sell action figures. They should of introduced him in AOTC it would of made a lot more sense that way. But, the more i hear about him the more he begins to grow on me. Now I know this little sliver of hope will probabley be let down by Lucas after I see ROTS with Anakin thinkin GG looks cool as a cyborg so he goes and jumps into a vlocano so he can be one to. Anyway he is supposed to be a really sinister villian, but as sagacity said they should concentrate more on other main characters than a just thought up millitary commander of the sepratist millitary.

It's going to be difficult for this poor movie!

No new and unnecessary characters please. And not too much Hayden either. Don't want overdone space battles, or drawn out light saber fights also. I'm not a big fan of Padme, really, so not too much of her. But though I only want to know more about all those old characters that I know and love, don't show me a young Han Solo, or any other OT characters! That would be really bad.

Would anything make anybody happy?...
