In any case, yeah, they make it pretty clear they've been "inspired by" GW. Click on the dwarf bird rider thingy long enough in Warcraft3 and he'll say "This Warhammer costs me 40k heh heh heh".

Your ability to extract pretty clear facts from ingame jokes amazes me.

Cue obligatory "All Fantasy is based on The Lord of the Rings" comment here.

I think I should have put "as an aside" in there somewhere.

Though, having gyrocopters and steam tanks running around, with ghouls that look like genestealers and orc shamans that look like space marines in robes...

As an aside, weren't "orcs" purple pig headed monsters before WHFB?

Yeah, though gray I think, Don't know where the green came from.

FUN FACT: did you know that the LotR films got it wrong, it clearly says in the books that orcs and goblins are one and the same, just one is a elf name and one is a human name.

... I'm struggling with myself here whether I should inform you about the two of them being of the same species, not race, or whether I should just find another way to derail the topic any further. wacko.gif

Think GW got bored with the old colour.

Actually, I'm not sure. I think one word is more general than the other. I think goblins are orcs, but you also get the other sort of orcs (hobgoblins perhaps? Cant remember).

So, when you see a goblin, you can call it an orc or a goblin, because goblin is a subset of orc. I think.

Anyway, from memory, isn't "Yrch" or something the elvish word for orcs/goblins?

Er...I mean...I love Yahtzee, he's so funny in everything he does, even if I am only a mindless drone and understand nothing of it...I also love his games despite never actually playing any of them...squeeee

Hey, just felt the need to review the review smile.gif

I really enjoyed the "Under new management" sing on the earth, the head-crabs with disguise and the flying shit laugh.gif

I've never really played a Halo, and I probably never will as I have never considered the X360 a console for my needs, but if a pc version comes that will run on my machine i might give it a shot.

I don't think there's anyone here who isn't excited about the next review, whatever game will be one it.
Let's just hope that with all the negativism Yahtzee puts in his review he never makes one of Assassin's Creed. That might be the end of a lot of good view points whenever I get it.

I would state my appreciation for the review, but the LOL could not be conveyed through such a weak medium as a forum.
Anyhoo, does anyone know what the insult at the beginning (accompanied by a ravenous critic chasing a rooster) is? I can't quite make out the whole thing.

That would be "bunch of cock-eaters to a man as they are". The rooster is a play on words, or "pun". Hope that clears that up.

As far as Yahtzee's review, it's his opinion and he's entitled to it. If he doesn't like FPS multiplayer in general and puts more weight on the story, that's his perogative as the reviewer. And for those out there looking for a meaty single player campaign that don't really have that much fun playing online, this review is for them.

BUT, as for the HL vs Halo debate, my take on the whole situation is this. There are a lot of FPSs famous for their single player campaigns (Half Life), and other for their multiplayer (CS, Quake 3, UT) how many games out there are famous for both? That list is gonna be pretty short, and I'm gonna save you the surprise and tell you, Halo's gonna be at the top.

Half Life 2 is also famous for its multiplayer, Toilet-to-the-head-death is pretty much a part of popular culture now.

Really? I can't say I've ever seen any comments by reviewers or posts from fans hailing the awesomeness of HL2s multiplayer. I mean at all, let alone to the degree of Quake 3 or Counter Strike or Halo. I guess I'm reading in all the wrong places.
