I'm not sure I get these new mom jokes. The ones I knew are more of the "Yo mommas so stupid she sold her car for gas money" variety.

Well I hate to bring up Something Awful again...

But their payment systems works like this:
$10 for pretty much any transaction.
transactions include:

-joining
-changing avatar/custom title
-changing someone elses avatar/custom title
-getting a premium account (hosting pics on forum/using search/PMs)
-changing "joined" date to: 11-September-2001
etc.

extra PM space would be great. I"d pay for that.

Those are some good ideas. I'm not sure how many of them I could actually put into place here. I could certainly have the gallery be for pay only but it is my suspicion that the gallery is not a super-success.

It used to be successful... I think the gallery would be more successful if people had a way of seeing that someone had a) uploaded a pic or cool.gif commented on a pic, without having to inconveniently manually navigate there - I try to every once in a while, but honestly, I usually just forget to check. If you could see that it's been updated in some way similar to the "view new posts" feature or even just the little square thingy that indicates there's a post you haven't seen yet, I think it would be better. Kind of like before we had an actual gallery, when there was just a regular ol' thread for offsite-hosted pics. You always knew when someone posted something new in there without having to remember to go there as a completely separate act. I know personally I love seeing others' pictures and commenting on them (and I love the casual-ness of it; I could join a photo forum but I get enough critiques in art school, thxvrymch) and I would be willing to pay the fee to participate in the gallery if if were more convenient.

Another thought; maybe more than just one gallery? Apparently the rule for the gallery is "no pictures that don't have yourself in them" (which sucks) and well, I for one am not planning on posting pictures of myself any time soon (I like to be mysteriously anonymous) but I would post pictures of my art and other interesting or funny stuff about my life in the gallery were it not against the rules. So maybe if there were like several galleries, like one for pictures of ourselves + significant others or whomever, one for artwork and the like (might also be easier than the Screening room for visual art), one for random crap... And maybe you don't have to pay to post comments, but you do to post pictures, or something.

I don't think any of that would work without some more convenient way of seeing updates, though.

Only becuase I don't have a camera yet. Let's face it, that's what people would be paying to see.

I should be getting one soon though for my trip to holland.

Really...
Wasn't your avatar your curves, once before? I remember for several months there were just numerous pictures of your waistline. I only remember because I didn't expect something like that on my Avatar thread. lol.

It was more like 2 weeks, but yeah. I meant to have that be a body part series but then the project never took off like I wanted it to (though I'm still planning on it). Also it was in response to someone telling me to put up a picture of myself.

And that's still pretty anonymous tongue.gif

Maybe so, but I wouldn't show random people of my waistline, or anything under my shirt, haha. You gotta earn it! lol.

How about: if you want to be a moderator or admin then you must pay a monthly rate. It makes sense doesn’t it? I mean, I’m not going to pay to be on this forum, I will just migrate to another forum and so will 1,500 other members.

1.) Moderators shoudn't have to pay regardless since they do a service to the forums by doing free work (e.g. moderating).

2.) The discussion is not (nor has it ever been) to have EVERYONE pay, it's for perks for paid members. Membership will always be free. I don't think, barring some major new features with the new revision of Invision, that we will really end up doing anything for pay.

So the obvious question is... what does one do to earn such credit?

Ltts: Hey, don't pick on Spoon. There's a big difference between walking around in revealing clothing and posting a 50x50 pixel shot that is vaguely recognizable as someone's wasteline. I definitely think that it was abstracted enough to not really count as showing anybody much of anything. We can't even be sure it was her, either...

Spoon, you can't fool me! I know you're really an 80 year old man!

Civ: Well, usually your mom jokes are something like...

Guy 1: Dude, I totally rocked that song last night!
Guy 2: I totally rocked your mom last night!
or
Guy 2: This chocolate chip cookie is so moist!
Guy 1: Your mom is moist.

Then people just kinda started going inane with them.

Guy 3: This is one crunchy stretch of gravel.
Guy 2: Your mom is crunchy!

Anyway, paystuffs: Meh. I don't have anything new to add. Sorry.
This space for rent. Inquire within.

If you are not in financial ruin then this thread should be forfeit. The forums are fine the way they are and whatever new thing you can come up with, no one would pay for it.
