At one point, I believe, any member could edit their own posts at any time. And, predictably, people did go back and change their posts -- usually when they'd stuck their foot in it and didn't want to deal with the fallout. That being the case, I don't think there will be a return to the days of limitless edits. (I coiuld be wrong! But I doubt it.) The whole point is to make people stop and think before they hit "add reply" -- and then to have a record if they didn't stop and think long enough. The penalty we pay is lots of little typos and the like, but, really, in the grand scheme of things? Piffle.

There's always "preview post" -- more people should take advantage!

For me it would be handy for specific threads upon request like the word thread I opened up. I spend a lot of time checking my phrases but I make mistakes so I have to kindly ask Slade to make the corrections everytime I find them. I don't know if you think that is the sort of thing I'd do. I have better things to do than to personally attack people by making quick statements using post editing to remove the deliberate rudeness. That is very low level behaviour to exploit board features like that. That is far less creative than word phrases.

I think the ability to edit Bond's posts would be fricken hardcore. I'd spend the whole time adding Bond references to his posts in order to piss people off at him biggrin.gif

Isn’t that the whole point of a forum?

Yeah, I guess I didn't phrase that correctly. Sometimes the forum tends to get used almost in the way one would use a personal website. This would give people the ability to post things that don't always work well in the forum setting in their own little 'domain' yet still be on the site.

Yes, I agree with Jen. The thing is that people would start an argument and then after they'd lost the argument they would go back and edit all of their old posts so that it didn't make any sense. In order to better preserve the integrity of threads we put the time limit on. You can still go back quickly and fix typos but if you want to completely change your posts a week later you can't do that.

I think it works best this way. It gives people some accountability for what they say.

If you sorted up a blog system on this site, that would be awesome. At the point I'm using an ad hoc one that one of my uni friends made, so it would be nice to have a professional looking one. That and I lost my password and keep forgetting to ask him to reset it whenever I speak to him.

If I were to, would I be able to point my domain at you're Server instead of masking?

Another handy feature might be getting Deepsycher his own sub-section. He seems to be contantly flooding the Lobby with post after post. Not that I have any problem, its just sometimes I don't notice other posts because he always seems to be the last person that posted in there.

Oh no, now I am feeling worried again. I only post mainly in a few of mine but I don't mean to respond after every single response of other people. Unfortunately I am mostly the only one watering my thread at the moment.

I wouldn't want to be limited because my thought progression will be limited and slowed down. It takes me a lot of thought so I wouldn't want another misunderstanding or disagreement except to ruin that. Looks like I am going to have to donate something if that has to happen in a sub section.

I wouldn't recommend sub-sections for specific members. And I don't think we should keep fighting here. Let's talk about reasons we might want to pay for things, since that's what this thread is all about. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything myself. Maybe the blog option, with all kinds of space for photo hosting?

I didn't to argue. I was just worried about the solution of limiting.

I have an idea I thought of long ago.

Would it be possible to setup an auction here?

The good thing is everybody would be invited.

The downside is that there can be problems with con artists and people who first sign up.

Wouldn't an auction raise a good amount of money here?

I was only kidding Deepsycher, anyway, an updated mobile site would be handy. It takes ages to surf from my phone, and I get logged out when I try to post.

Just a thought. How about changing the colour scheme of the forum to black, like the L&E webpage. I like dark webpages, kind of gothic and cool. Makes the site seem more sketchy, which i also like.

oh man, back to back mom posts, i got smoked.

I have a feeling if we do change everything to black, officer b might move up here finally. Remind him of the old boards. It could be like a retro thing for a month. It might be hard on the eyes though...
