Hi guys just migrating to the NON-SW part of this site.

How many out there are big MST3K fans. Do you guys remember Red Zone Cuba. Horrible right. Me an a friend are very interesting in remaking Red Zone Cuba? Seriously. I see a movie with a good idea that was horribly executed. Once we find a script we will try to find get the ball rolling.

Do you think there are other MST3K movies that could be salvaged into decent movies?

What are the TOP TEN good movies of MST3K?

Haven't seen MST3K since having to abide by a certain policy at my workplace. sad.gif

But it's a great show. "Mister Beasley!?" Other than that long-lost habit, I've no reason to get up at 8am on Saturday.

Actually, that's not a bad idea. It's almost the Tarantino formula: take a movie not a lot of people have heard of/seen, and rip it off. I think a good way to go about finding cheap plots would be to troll imdb for the films with the ratings between 1 and 3. Find a few you like, and see whethe you can get the rights to do a remake. With some of them, the rights may even be public domain.
"I had a lot of different ideas. At one point, Luke, Leia and Ben were all going to be little people, and we did screen tests to see if we could do that." -George Lucas, in STAR WARS: the Annotated Screenplays (p197).

I saw the MST3K movie when I was, I believe, in the 8th grade, and it changed me. After that I found myself obsessed with cheesy B-horror cinema and robots. Go figure. Unfortunately, I remember very little about it, and have never seen a single episode of what I'm sure is a very fine television program.

It really is well done. The closing music is enough to make one sad it's over 'til the next week. But that was usually a rerun, to which there is a knowing charm. Anyway, if you've never seen it, watch two episodes before deciding you don't like it. smile.gif

and it's high time they went Lucas.

Hell yes! The prequels are ready to grill.... actually, most of us could probably just make our own MST3K movie with the Star Wars prequels.

Put a video camera behind your lounge, rent one of the awful DVDs, invite some friends over, put it in and hit record on the camera. Then sit down and let the grilling begin! biggrin.gif

You may be on to something here... You know there is asite that tells you how to make your own Crow, Tome Servos and Gypsies. You could get the camara background done easily. Cast yourself as the Mike/Joel character. Add a few cheesy looking sets and voila: your own MST3K. The only thing stopping you are the copyright infringements tongue.gif .

Y'know it is amazing when you think about how cheaply such an effective comedy show like this was made. One season of MST3K probably costs as much to make as one episode of Seinfeld.

and the staff sometimes appear. one week the ups guy delivers something and says something along the lines as "this looks like a fun place to work." turns out he was the art director or something. As an art director, I say "freakin' A. you rock!" (wish I had that gig.)

I miss MST3K... they'd have had a grand old time with prequel Star Wars, Troy, King Arthur, Catwoman, Elektra, Daredevil, Jurassic Parks 2 and 3, I Robot, Die Another Day, and many more.

I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an obi-wan to go.

I must stand in defense of Troy here. Aside from containing more Brad Pitt ass than the original book and one guy who died and shouldnt have Troy was quite faithful to Homer's Illiad. I enjoyed it.

I saw Phantasm on MST3K and I enjoy that movie quite a bit. Its almost like my guilty pleasure. That, and Mortal Kombat.

My mom borrowed this one from the Library... It would be perfect

The Keeper of Time
"The problem is, you're not a kangaroo... that's a bear... and he's in your pants."
"Maybe artists shouldn't talk about their art."
"Well kids, I guess your father isn't a hermaphrodite."
"Izzy! enough with the rabid smootching!!"

I'm no expert, but I'm told copyrights are void in case of satire. Does MST3K count as Satire?

Copyright laws are void if you were making a satire OF a movie. Problem is, it's sort of hard to satire satire...
