Not to mention Putin: right now, he's dissolved his Cabinet, tested the so-called "father of all bombs", and launched a Russian version of Married... with Children. Clearly, he's a little wonky. wink.gif

Only in comparision to the way we used to be. I mean, you live in America. A country where a kid can walk into a store and buy an rifle, and enough bullets to make Chuck Norris sweat. A country that in many states, machine guns can be legally purchased over the counter. A country where some areas enforce complusory gun ownership. A country that fails to see the connection between all of these guns, and all the shootings, but seems to see non-stop connections between shootings and video games. I mean, I'm not saying gun ownership causes shootings, because it doesn't, but surely in a country were people do go out and kill each other for no reason whatsoever, handing out guns to anyone that asks for one, can't be a good policy.

I mean, I'm not trying to say that Britain is perfect. But... actually come to think of it, I don't know what I'm trying to say.

I like how people who live in the US are the only people in the americas who actually call themselves americans.

tis based on our country's name. If another country had the word "America" in their name, they could do the same. You happen to come from a land where your big country is named the same as your continent. Technically, Canadians are Americans. But their national allegiance is to Canada. Mine is to (the United States of) America.

Then we have Continental prefixes, such as African-American. But I don't think of Chilean Americans as South American-Americans. wacko.gif

Yes, it's confusing. I like it too.

Handing out guns in the United States is an excellent policy! Especially since the U.S government has taken a turn for the worse (inching ever closer towards totalitarianism) these past 16 years

Usually you add South/ern or central just to further specify the area.
Chileans, brazilians, argentinians and uruguayans just to cite some can be dubbed south americans.

It is understandable that most americans are not fully aware of this as they tend to ignore the layout of the world beyond the mexican border tongue.gif

I don't think that connection has been in the media, at least, for a while now. Yeah, there's still people around that think that, but a lot of people are starting to realize that's a load of shit. And sure, there's shootings, but there's not much difference as far as shootings go in most other affluent countries. And I don't know about you, but I could never just go in and buy a gun.

I know the rules for owning a gun in this country go something like: You have to have been a member of a gun club for atleast 12 months, with a recommendation from the president saying that you are fit to hold a license. You also have undergo psychiatric evalution, to be proven mental stable. You also have to keep the firearm unloaded, in pieces, with the trigger stored away from the rest of the gun, incase it is stolen. Also, a police officer can come round at any time, and ask to see your gun, and if even once the gun is not secured exactly as the law says, you lose your license with no chance of ever getting one again. So yeah, it is pretty hard to get one in this country legally these days.
