In the dull period between releases, there's not much to do except for wait. There are some games coming out fairly soon that look interesting in the meantime, though. Tell me what you are looking forward to.

Personally, I am quivering with Bioshock anticipation. I was a huge fan of System Shock 2, though, so it comes as no great surprise. If they ever finish it, the Quest for Glory 2 remake at AGDI looks like it could be fairly amazing. Plus, the new expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2 is something on the horizon (yes, I know, I'm a nerd).

Let's get this little tidbit out of the way in the first post so we don't have to revisit it. I'm noticing a trend in threads nowadays to devolve into name calling and who-daddy-Yahtzee-loves-more contests. Take your flamebait elsewhere and only post if you're looking forward to something.

So...go ahead.

"knytt stories" by Niffla

While I do thoroughly enjoy a good indie game, I've found that a lot of them have very similar quality (which is not to say bad) and there are so many that I haven't played yet that I find it hard to look forward to any that don't already grab me (like the QFG2 remake, since I've been waiting for one ever since I played the original).

(Enough parentheses for you?!)

But I'll go look at those anyway, maybe they'll grab me by the throat and refuse to let go.

Personally, the games I am looking forward playing right now, other than Yahtzee's next project, are Blackwell Unbound and Knytt Stories, both to be released at the end of the month. The thousand other games either won't be released for a long time or their future is just plain uncertain, so no reason for me to get all hyped.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Those are going to kick an unprecedented amount of ass. Also Manhunt 2 because the idea of swinging the Wiimote to cleave some poor bastard's skull in half with an axe gives me a raging boner.
I'm not pessimistic; I've just realised that the light at the end of the tunnel is an incoming train.

Haha, quality chat!

Sadly, looks like the Wii system is the main reason it's banned... sad.gif

Aw, c'mon... and by c'mon I mean fuck off. Are they starting on this "think of the children" bullshit again when the game isn't intended for children in the fucking first place?

If I can make Link run around swinging his sword for no reason, shoot goblins in the face and crotch with explosive arrows, ram a sword through the chest of a guy twice my height and STILL not go running around in green tights eating fairies and disintergrating at random trying to save the land of Hyrule, I'm sure as fuck not going to mistake my Wiimote for an actual axe and try to ram it up somebody's ass, you fucking shitwizards angry.gif

God all of this ban bullshit pisses me off. You'd think they'd realize that taking away FAKE violence encourages REAL violence by now, wouldn't you?

That's not particularly true. But then, a new input device is hardly the tool of the devil. In the old days, psychopaths would start off with the arrow keys and ctrl button. Or more healthy pursuits...The Columbine kids went bowling before letting off 900+ rounds.

The old video games desensitize you to violence argument.
Someone should ask those people: "Does porn desensitize you to sex?"

They always fail to answer the question of whether the games cause violence, or whether it's violent people that enjoy them.

Handhelds:

- Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and the Final Fantasy Tactics remakes coming for PSP. (Castlevania was delayed until December! Gods!)

- Phoenix Wright 3.

Console:

Nothing has me jumping except for Smash Bros. and Galaxies. Metal Gear for the PS3 is some of the best gameplay I've seen in a long, long time. Assassin's Creed makes me tingle.

Half-Life: Orange Box, anyone?
