Speaking of the spam filter -- I strongly suspect that some of my legitimate email is being deleted along with the spam. And for some reason, emails are dribbling in days after they're sent. This morning I got one (spam, by the way!!) that was sent on 4/14. What's up with that?

Yeah, unfortunately spam filters have the unwanted side effect of deleting actual email. The date thing is something spammers have been doing for a while. They'll make something a few days old so that it will stick out amongst the already read messages in your inbox. Sometimes they date them REALLY old (I got one from 1969 the other day) so that they appear first in your inbox.

Bastards.

Oh, and thanks for the tip, Jon. I almost clicked on the link!! BLAHMBABAGO!!!!!!

I just got an e-mail entitled "cheap purpose dust."

Apparently they were trying to sell useful powdery substance for a low price. Or something to that effect.

E-mail from 1969? Yay for time travel. dry.gif

Hmmm. Are you sure you don't know who this was from. It almost looks like the handy work of one J. Gutner esq.

Do you have a brother Mr. Gutner????

I used to get emails to my hotmail account that were from people who by amazing coincidence just happened to have the same full names as me... who just used different email providers.

I tell you what - having these emails so clearly identifying themselves was a lot better than having a spam scanner.

Hmmm.... Demetrius sounds more like a name for a troll than a name for an elf... especially a Chefelf...

For anyone battling spam: I just installed a brightmail server at the company I work for and quickly am a believer that it is hands down the best spam filter out there. And with zero administration, who can complain.

No kidding? I have had very little luck with spam filters in the past but I'll have to give this program a shot! smile.gif
