Then why do you like Bad Brains if they incorporated elements of reggae into their music?

Okay, I think you misunderstood. It's not like they were playing reggae music. Look, just listen to these:

Those are the first songs I ever heard by them.
And even though I don't like reggae, I still give Bad Brains credit for a few things:
1) They are the only important black hardcore band I can think of off the top of my head. The hardcore punk scene isn't exactly overflowing with black performers, so I give them credit for being pioneers of sorts.
2) They did something different with a genre that, for the most part, is completely uninteresting. I have to respect a band that genuinely pushes boundaries and tries new things, whether I like the end result or not.
