I don't take it too seriously, mind you; I just use it as a point of inspiration. Right now, I'm working on a new gospel, wherein I take the fragments and such of certain apocryphal gospels, use other pieces from the canonical gospels to fill in blanks, and create linking sequences to form a framework for the whole piece. It's really quite fascinating, actually.
