I’m swayed to both sides of the argument in this situation but considering my political beliefs I am going to have to side with the human rights activists and say that holding anyone for over a week with no charge is just plain wrong and an abuse of power.

The links you've mentioned do not mention any specifics about the case itself, but given the overwhelming majority of opinion in this thread, I'm going to have to play devil's advocate and say I oppose human rights.
