But honestly...as an example of how deep this goes, does anyone else feel physically incapable of saying the "N" word, or any other racial slur for that matter, without feeling an overwhelming sense of shame (and maybe even fear) after saying it? Or even thinking it?

By N-word do you mean nigger?

Uh oh...

Yeah. That one. The whole history of over two hundred years of hatred, prejudice, bigotry, and oppression really upsets me. It's very vulgar, and I don't know how black people can stand to use it on one another except somehow being paradoxically ignorant of their history, or in some bizarre way of... desensitization of a word that is hopefully not applied to them at all anymore, but probably sadly still is?

[*]Black People: Absolutely off-limits unless you are black. If you are lucky you can pull it off with the "I Have Black Friends" excuse.

If only those wiggas at my school were making fun of black people… if only.

QUOTE (Zewb @ Jul 23 2007, 12:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
[*]Muslims: Open season. unless 90% of your audience have balaclavas and kalashnikovs.

Only if the audience is NOT composed of leftist college-students with iPods.

QUOTE (Zewb @ Jul 23 2007, 12:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
[*]Fat People: Completely acceptable unless 90% of your audience are lesbians/feminists.

Well said.

QUOTE (Zewb @ Jul 23 2007, 12:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
[*]9/11: Unless you run a conveniently located pitchfork & torch emporium, steer clear.

I make fun of 9/11 all the time. Especially when we are watching a documentary about it in school, then I stand up and shout “OH MY GOD! THE JEWS DID IT!” Some people laugh, some people cry, everyone has a good time.

QUOTE (Zewb @ Jul 23 2007, 12:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
[*]Saddam Hussein: Are you kidding? You could get in trouble for NOT making fun of him.

Yeah, making fun of Saddam Insane is great. Anyway, Hu-were-sayin?

QUOTE (Zewb @ Jul 23 2007, 12:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
[*]Harry Potter Fans: Go for it. In fact, be sure to inform them of all the characters who die in the seventh book.

I don’t know if I would risk that, no one knows what Harry Potter fans are capable of when pushed to their limits.

<<<ON TOPIC>>>

On thing I know for certain anyone who enjoys breathing should make fun is… Mohamed, the Muslim prophet. Seriously, don’t do it.

<<<UPDATE>>>

Someone here needs to learn basic grammar, I wont say who it is but they know who they are.

Anal Cunt
Let's begin by pointing out that all grindcore, no matter how "technical" it is, is fucking awful. There is no such thing as a good grindcore band. And I'm not referring to spazzy shit that incorporates bits of grind, like The Locust and such, I'm talking about straight-forward, nasally screaming, tinny, shitty grindcore. The thing that makes it worse is that these bands all think that they're interesting or unique because they all make use of cartoonish violence and bigotry in their lyrical content. Anal Cunt is not the most offensive of these retards, they just happen to be the most well known because of their apparently hilarious name and image. Rest assured that any band who thinks that song titles like "Kill Women" or "Van Full of Retards" are a really good idea is probably made up of the most pathetic, slope-browed, cretinous piss-stains imaginable. If you're above the age of 16, there's no reason to find this kind of shit amusing.

What can I say: I agree with you wholeheartedly. They have no talent or brains whatsoever. But I do commemorate them for going against Political Correctness. Consider yourself lucky to be an American and have the right to say whatever you wish, we in Australia do not have that right in our constitution.

Not yet you aren't. The speed at which the U.S.A is conquering countries around the world, soon we will all be Americans. Regardless. I am 100% against any kind of censorship. What’s ok to make fun of? The answer should be everything but unfortunately we have been brainwashed to think that there are some subjects that are off limits. Let me give you a non-humorist example: In Germany and Austria it is illegal to deny the holocaust. It is illegal as in at best you will get a fine and at worst you will get jail time for denying the holocaust. Instead of combating the holocaust deniers’ baseless claims with factual evidence, they try to silence them and some human rights groups have made them out to be human rights activists.

(Holocaust Deniers are also known as Nazi Apologists and Holocaust Revisionists)

That comment pretty much sealed a several-day thought that I'd been having. I was debating whether or not I should move this topic to the Debate Club.
By saying something as ridiculous as the first two lines of that paragraph, I think that yes, yes I should.

Well we wouldn’t be American citizens per say… but we would serve the American empire nonetheless.

I don't think the USA cares about Canada enough to do anything about it. I'm sure it feels threatened by a more reasonable and socialist health care system and the Royal Canadian Mountain Police, but Canada just chills out North of the US. It would be difficult even for the present monsterous administration to try to say that Canada is also responsible for 9/11 and have the sheeple buy it/Congress sit with their thumbs up their asses and let it happen. Not that they won't progress to that point soon, of course, but there's no point in going after Canada. Though it would give people in North Dakota and Minnesota something to do... tongue.gif And thanks a lot, Cobnat, for having this topic brought in here. pinch.gif It was probably due for it anyway, but I still blame you for being the catalyst.

About that Anal Cunt thing, I was just about to quote you, Hecc, but then I read the next post and you did it for me.

I support the right for people to deny the holocaust, but I also support the right of people to punch people who deny the holocaust in the face. Show them a couple of pictures of the gas chambers and piles of corpses and tortured people near death who look like corpses, ask them to explain that away, and then BAM, knock a few teeth out.

Frankly, I can't imagine any sort of remotely humorous joke made in response to 9/11, completely ignoring the deaths and whatnot. Seriously, what are you going to say? "Wow, that bug crashed into my windshield just like the terrorists crashed into the World Trade Center?" Cobnat: Your joke is anti-semetic/making fun of the ridiculousness of anti-semitism, but it's still pretty stupid.

A lot of my problem with these sort of jokes is that they're often stupid and unfunny. There's only so much you can do when you're playing with a stereotype, and there's a serious problem if you actually don't like some of those groups and find the humor in putting them down through your ignorance and assumption of their stereotype. And then some things are just out of line. Making fun of the mentally handicapped comes to mind right away. It's really fucking pathetic to have to stoop to the level where you have to insult someone who lacks the cognitive capacity to dress him/herself for whatever reason just to get laughs. I definitely believe Western culture needs to lighten up and relax about things in general, but there are lines with if crossed should be met with face punching.

I'd like to add some annoying subcultures to the list, though: Jocks, Emos, Skaters: All ok mostly if you're not with someone who associates with that group. (And by skaters, I mean the people who think bodily injury for cheap laughs is cool and mix it up with some skateboarding, who think that they're making some sort of political statement with their stupid "skateboarding is not a crime" stickers, or who wear skateboarder clothing lines so they can pretend to be skaters from a distance when they can't stay on a board. Maybe faux-skateboarders would have been a better term. Meh.)

Emos are ridiculous. They think they're so "in" because they want to slit their wrists and write things all over their clothes and dress like the Addams Family. Pssshhh... mellow.gif
