i recently went to go see "transformers", and i was very intrigued by a film preview shown before transformers...the preview identified no name of what the movie is called.

the only thing i remember about the preview is seeing the statue of liberty's head landing in the streets of new york.

the movie preview looked cool as hell,..then it said i had to wait until january 2008 to finally get to see the film in theatres...damn i hope im still alive then, seems like a far way off.

anyone have any ideas what this film is called?

from what ive been reading online, its supposed to be some sort of big monster/big robot-esque film done ala blair witch project style. someone named j.j. abrams is supposed to be at the directing helm.

ive heard that the working title is called "cloverfield", of course this could be just a working title, much the same as was the infamous moniker, blue harvest. (bka rotj)

apparently, paramount was taking down a lot of the pirated youtube videos down, but then execs realized the phenomenon went rampant,.so i guess they let it go. hey, its all in favor of helping drive this buzz they want..and it damn sure sees to be working to their interest.

ive heard people label it voltron. stop. its not voltron.

i dont think its a godzilla remake.

maybe a cthulu, parasite eve, or gamera film...but not voltron...this preview is not about voltron.

ha ha. its actually a preview for an upcoming live-action pokemon film. makes sense for this preview to be shown for the live action transformers film.

the footage we see in the preview is charizard destroying new york city.

pikachu saves the world in this movie. gotta catch em all!
Peter Brady was by far the ugliest Brady kid on the "Brady Bunch". I mean, they were all pretty ugly, and the fact that the Brady dad wanted to always take the boys out on overnight camping trips just a tad bit too often, gave me the creeps.

I don't know what to expect from this flick. I don't think that hand held cameras will work in a movie that is so blatantly ridiculous. At least Blair Watch even 28 days Later had human or humanoid bad guys and not a three ton lizard.

Plus, a giant monster attacking Manhattan and preying on our 9/11 fears. Man, that's original!

no joke. why does every apocalyptic-type film always have to take place in either New York or Los Angeles?

why not try somewhere different,.like say,.Sheridan, Wyoming, or something.

ok, ive been reading a lot of different things online about this film. its going under two working names..the most common one is called "cloverfield", the other one is "slusho".

supposedly, somewhere in the trailer, someone is supposed to be wearing a slusho t-shirt. i have no idea what slusho is. it makes me think of an icy confectionary sold at most convienence stores.

but anyways, ive been reading what a lot of people are saying about this movie, and especially the trailer.

you have to understand that there are literally thousands upon thousands of people out there, who are curious as hell to find out just exactly what this film will be about. six months is just too damn long, and people like me want to know what the hell it is about.

ive read many people saying that there is something of particular interest to watch, that is located in trailer...it is on around/about..1:32-1:35 range,..they claim that..through the obvious thick smoke,.you can see the huge arm..and even the silhouette of this behemoth beast walking in a 45 degree angle slightly above the lamp post in the forefront, and walking in the background towards the building that was just damaged by the airborne statue of liberty head.

also, supposedly,..at/around :38 someone says the phrase "the myth". i havent heard this, and ive been listening to it over and over.

i did take note at the rather large amount of asian people in attendance at the goingaway party for mr. rob.

there is the asian guy that is seen up close wishing him farewell. and, after him, there is an asian lady walking in the background approaching the front right about when rob says "i dont know, im like your main dude". there are also a few other asian people to be seen here and there in the trailer. then the one white girl says "have fun in japan". at :46, there is an illuminated hanging paper lantern in the far right of the shot. at around :57, when the black guy says "shaking everywhere,.like tremors", there is a white girl moving towards him..and in her hair is a pair of chopsticks. so, with all this being said,.there is either a heavy japanese influence for this film, or it could be the motif considering rob is going away to japan.

some people online are saying that you can see the reflection of a face, on/around the end of the trailer. i have no idea where, because i havent seen it myself. but if you find out what some people are saying, be sure to let me know as well.

as far as this movie what needs to be done is they need to correct the size of the statue of liberty's head...it is waaay too small.

I've seen this movie before:
People (hipsters?) are hanging out (partying?). One says something ironic ("This is gonna be a long night!"?). Beastly invader (alien?) attacks Manhattan (LA?) for no apparent reason (never crossed the writer's mind). City is destroyed and a few minor (minority?) characters are killed. Band of heroes (cool guy and hot girl?) join up with US Army (Marines) to attack said monster. Heroes attack with traditional warfare (missiles?) and fail. Someone has sex (said guy and girl?/monster and giant hole in ground?). Heroes then figure out weakness in monster (detachable penis?) in which they fly (climb?) into. Battle worn general (Bill Pulman?) sets up some kind of explosion (poison) in monster. Bomb doesn't go off (negative, negative, didnt go in?). Hero (cool guy?) then sets up the bomb correctly and said monster is killed. Monster lays dead (unconscious?) and insurance companies weep.

wow, thats saying a lot for a film that no one knows the name of, and hasnt been released yet.

but i feel what youre saying,.overused cliches.

but then again, who is to say if certain parts of that trailer will actually be used in the final cut of the film. hey, j.j. abrams may be tricking us in more ways than one.

I doubt it. First, J.J. Abrams does Star Trek; now, he's doing a monster movie. Let's just hope the monster isn't Doomsday, then. wink.gif

Abrams has declared that the movie is not a sequel, remake, or license. So it's an entirely new monster, which is intriguing.
And who gives a flying fuck about whether or not there's any reason for the attack? Since when have monster movies ever offered up a sensible motive for the destruction? As soon as "monsters" enter the picture, all hope for an intelligent movie flies out the window. It's likely just going to be a good, fun giant monster horror movie.

That said, people are reading into shit way too much. It's getting ridiculous. I'm incredibly intrigued, and really want to find out what's up with the film, but it makes more sense to just wait it out and see what happens as more information is released from Abrams himself.

Perhaps it's the mysterious Skyscraper Monster. I can picture it now:

"Look, up in the sky!"
"It's a splurge!"
"It's the Plague!"

No, it's the Skyscraper Monster! Faster than a speeding building! More powerful than a lighting rod! And able to wreck tall Statues of Liberty with a single blast! The Skyscraper Monster, strange visitor from another planet who came to Earth to use powers and abilities in the obliteration of mortal man! The Skyscraper Monster, who can change the course of mighty traffic lanes, bend buildings in its bare claws! And who, in disrupting the park bench, hog-tearing reporters, and destroying great metropolitan newspapers, fights a never-ending battle for brutes, injustice, and the Anarchist way! Da-da-da! tongue.gif

King Kong had a motive, but then again he really didnt destroy much. Just climbed a building. I wasnt really asking for a motive, anyway. I was just pointing out the cliches of all these recent alien/beast attack movies.
