Well, Carl is often teased about being black, though more of in a positive light.
Carl: "Oh, right. You think I have to be some amazing basket ball player just because I'm black, huh?" *Carl leaps fifteen feet in the air and does a somersault and a rodeo flip before dunking the ball into the basket, shattering the backboard.*
In the movie, Lenny says something like "Black is the worst color ever. Oh, no offense, Carl." to which Carl replies "It's ok, it happens all the time."
You do have a very good point, though, that the Simpsons need not stoop to petty race and midget and retarded people jokes to be funny. When they're funny at all, of course!
