I've grown up telling people that as an early child I had watched what i belived to be ep1-3, that a friend used to have... and I described what little i could remember from it to people here and there until one day some one came across the 'stomp tokyo' review of the Star Wars holday special and figured this is what i had probably been watching back then...

well, i finally downloaded a really shitty copy of it... and my god! it's fucking bad, it's so suckfull that Suckie McSuckalot of Suckville would say "mannnnn that sucked!"

I mean these 10minute blocks of Malaa (chewies wife), Lumpy (chewies fat son), and Ichy (chewies dad? who looks like an albino version of that hairy creature from Big Trouble In Little China), sitting around talking in untranslated wookie-ese. holy fuck!!! it's more unwatchable than a bright TV that shoots you in the eyes with some sort of acid belching gun. i felt physically ill.

it's worth watching for Han solos greeting of a thousand wookie hugs, princess leia's song, and some cartoon i've so far only skimmed through were chewbacca and boba fett team up for reasons i've yet to gain the constitution to watch...

but i'd like to get a better copy still...

at the very least, they should make it an extra feature on the Star Wars Shit Edition DVD when it comes out.

Yes, the Holiday special is amazingly bad. Srmoore of these forums has created a very nice quality DVD of the "special".

It has some really good highlights, however. The musical number with Bea Arthur is AMAZING (for humorous reasons). The cartoon with Boba Fett (which aired before ESB was released and features Jeremy Bullock as Boba Fett) is actually kinda interesting from a fan standpoint.

Lucas has done of VERY good job of covering up the existence of this special at all. There is very little information about it (aside from random websites and such). Officially Lucasfilm will not even acknowledge it. I can't say as I blame them since it makes the prequels look like oscar caliber films.

Since Lucas is so ashamed we wanted to make a plan where we could mass produce the DVDs and sell them online (just enough to cover our cost of materials and shipping). However, we decided rather quickly that Lucas would do anything in his power to stop this from happening, including suing our asses into oblivion. Not only the shame of having people watch this film but the fact that selling it would be a HUGE infringement of international copyright laws.
