ok i finally saw it and loved it
J M is right it does give you a Princess Bride
feel but it does seem like an exact replication

De Niro was so fracking hilarious and
Charlie Cox's character, Tristan went from geeky
to hot with one quick hair change

love this movie its one of the best films of last year

Woo, you are SO right about Tristan's magical transformation. And I loved de Niro also. The movie was cute but I don't think it compares to Princess Bride. Or Mirror Mask, who was written by the same dude.
I am writing about Jm in my signature because apparently it's an effective method of ignoring him.

How they got Robert De Niro is beyond me but you just know he was having the time of his life prancing around in those pretty dresses, and goddamn it his character was just so sweet! And came at just the right time too: when things looked darkest and Tristan and Yvaine most needed the protection and guidance.

The movie got off to a slow start: when everyone was just running towards the Star, but after the Inn everything kicked up a notch and the ending left me with the biggest case of Warm Fuzzies I've ever had. What a beautiful film.

I would say they may as well have gotten Rickman in on it,

Alan Rickman's a little too old to have played a brash, ruthless young prince, but the character does share some of his slimy qualities.

Dreamer- I think an actor recognizing a fun roll is just as important as recognizing a role that would warrant an Oscar Nom. How else could you explain Patrick Stewart popping up in Men In Tights? I think DeNiro was just incredible in Stardust, and it adds a lot to the film's tone that such an accomplished and serious actor could take time off from executing Joe Pesci to laugh and play a more sympathetic and even humorous character.

And yeah the ending was really great, and that little bit of deception at the end even had me fooled, and I noramlly see that stuff coming. It really was a great story and I don't think we'll see another movie like it for a very long time to come. It's not often that what is esssentially a fairy tale can be made highly viewable for adults.

I wasnt saying the character was based off Rickman. I was saying that Septimus seemed to be very similiar to Severus Snape, who Rickman plays. Although that's really not a complaint cuz I love the character. I paid ten dollars for a copy of Order of the Phoenix, but as soon as someone sells a 2 hour movie called "Snape being snide towards Harry, Ron, Hermione and sometimes Umbridge" I'll pay to see it in theaters several times and then buy three copies of the dvd"
