There are things that are trendy now, and there are things that were trendy then. There are things people wear now, and there are things that arent worn anymore.

Specifically, I am referring to clothes, jewelry, hairstyles, accessories..anything thats worn that affects overall appearance, basically.

Growing up as a teen in the late 80's and early 90's, I took note of many things that were trendy during that time. Some seemed silly to me, other things seemed damn right cool.

This was a time when ice-washed, frosted washed, acid washed jeans were in. When kids wore Vision Street Wear, the color-changing Generra HyperColors t-shirts, and the war was on to see which brand was better:..Mossimo or Yaga. (I think Mossimo won that war, even though their clothes are now sold at Target).

Starter jackets were a big hit too,.seems like everyone was sporting their favorite teams...although i did notice a lot of kids wearing Univ of Miami Hurricanes, and Michigan Wolverines,.and not to forgot Green Bay Packers.

A lot of preppy kids wore these brown leather jackets, and these braided leather belts, that you let the end of the belt hang down in front of your crotch, like it was some sort of bizzare reference to male genitalia size or something...i never quite figured out the purpose for that fad. Dont get me started on the crotch tags on Marithe, Francois & Girbaud jeans either.

girls wore cute hairstyles back then,.well they do today too,.but there was this interesting fad hairstyle girls wore that looks like a hairsprayed flower centered right above their forehead, and the rest of their hair was frizzled out. I liked it, I dont know why.

Then there was the Mexican poncho thing that was going on..every other kid was wearing a shirt that looked like an old fashioned potato sack.

Then there was one of my favorites, The Cross Colours shirts., not really sure why they died out, I liked them. ..and of course, The Big Johnson shirts were always hilarious too,.and banned in most schools.

A lot of kids wore Doc Maartens and Cole Haan shoes..they both sound german to me, and with that being said, I never knew the Germans had such a huge presence in the shoe making industry.

sometimes, Im glad that some of these styles have faded into history forever,.although it would be cool to see a resurgance of the ice-washed jeans coming back,.sometimes,.girls looked really hot wearing those,..or maybe it was just my teenage hormones,.who knows...ahhh the memories.

The 80s are coming back in a big way.

I personally love the 80s-style Ray Ban sunglasses. You know the ones. The ones with the rounded, oval lenses and the thick plastic frames. I love them so much that I bought a pair a few weeks back and they now rarely leave my head.

I'm hoping the mullet and big hair come back in style so I can laugh every time I leave my apartment.

It already is. Actually, I think that style just never left the trailer-trash culture.
