I gotta check out that Zorn release... And yeah, good call on the Fiery Furnaces. Awesome record.

Prince's new album was released on the 24th; how do you feel about that? mellow.gif

The same way I feel about everything else he's released since "Parade". I don't really care about it.

Good, then; I haven't much cared for Prince, either. biggrin.gif

Battles - Mirrored is on my list for sure, on both 'best albums' and 'best shows' of '07.

Tyondai Braxton, son of Anthony Braxton. did not know that. blew my mind.

Anthony Braxton is an avant-garde musician. He did a collaborative release with Wolf Eyes that was among W. E.'s best releases to date.
Outside of that, I haven't explored him too far. I'm still trying to get around to checking out more of John Wiese's stuff.

Oh yeah, and Battles. Dear god. I can't believe the hype surrounding that album (and it is hype, because I feel it's a little more than it rightfully deserves). Sure, it's fucking good, but holy crap. It's definitely a shoe-in for my year-end wrap up, but I don't think it's even top 10 material. I guess I don't "get it"? Either way, it's awesome that John Stanier didn't stick around for the pathetic shell of a band that we call Helmet nowadays, and got hisself into this project. Such an amazing drummer...

Okay, then. blush.gif

My little sister can't get enough of this group called The Cheetah Girls, but I can't stand them. Have you heard of them, by chance? unsure.gif

From what I understand they're characters from a Disney Channel made-for-TV movie that was made from a series of books. I'll ignore the fact that I'm getting mental images of the Pussycat Dolls mixed with Josie & The Pussycats for now.

Or maybe I won't. That's a little hot.

Either way, the fact that they are a fake band in the fakest of fake senses makes them completely repulsive to me, and I've yet to hear a single note out of anyone affiliated with this debacle. If I have my way, I never will either.

The Monkees are a special case to me. For starters, they actually made an effort to, and eventually successfully, wrote and performed their own songs. Secondly, they were actually pretty talented musicians.

I've just heard an advance of the new Between the Buried and Me album.

And that is definitely on the list.
