Hamas ‘Mickey Mouse’ pulled off air

Militants suspend show with character urging Palestinian kids to fight Israel

RAMALLAH, West Bank - Hamas militants have suspended a TV program that featured a Mickey Mouse lookalike urging Palestinian children to fight Israel and work for global Islamic domination, the Palestinian information minister said Wednesday.

Information Minister Mustafa Barghouti said the character — a giant black-and-white rodent with a high-pitched voice — represented a “mistaken approach” to the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation.

He said that the program was pulled from Hamas-affiliated Al Aqsa TV at his ministry’s request and “placed under review.”

The character, named “Farfour,” or “butterfly,” but unmistakably a copy of the Disney character, preached against the U.S. and Israel each Friday on the show called “Tomorrow’s Pioneers.”

“You and I are laying the foundation for a world led by Islamists,” Farfour squeaked on a recent episode. “We will return the Islamic community to its former greatness, and liberate Jerusalem, God willing, liberate Iraq, God willing, and liberate all the countries of the Muslims invaded by the murderers.”

Children called in to the show, many singing Hamas anthems about fighting Israel.

A spokeswoman for Burbank, Calif.-based Walt Disney Co. did not return phone calls seeking comment, and the Gaza TV station had no comment.

Thanks to J m HofMarN for this highlight of childrens programming.

I actually watched the video on youtube the other day. I laughed my ass off... I can't wait for the DVD.

EDIT: If they hate america so much, why do they steal ideas (like iconic figures such as mickey mouse) from them?

My first thought is: Rock out! I could totally watch this just for insanity value. I mean it takes a LOT for Hamas to pull a show criticizing Israel so this has to be seriously crazy.

Also, while some might call the producers barbaric for encouraging kids to fight Israel, who hasnt seen American cartoons lampooning Saddam Hussein, or cartoons of superheroes battling Hitler, etc. I remember a comic book ad where superman encouraged kids to "Slap a Jap" by purchasing warbonds.

And these people weren't bulldozing our houses and blowing up our parents.

Palestinian kids have to deal with the war every day, its in their streets and homes, and of course their government is going to tell them that the people who drag their parents off to internment camps are uncool. I'm not happy about it, but I'd really rather not see any "OMFG TEH PALESTINIANS ARE HORRIBLE"

this video is utter bullshit (excuse my arab). ..but it is.

the only way this video could have been good is if,..during the live-on-the-air taping of one of these fucked up shows, some young soliders from the United States Marine Corps Infantry unit (lets say about 30 or so) had somehow managed to sneak inside the television studio and were hiding out backstage behind the curtains.

...and right about 15 minutes or so into the program,.right as Islamic Mickey starts singing and preaching his camel-loving bullhuckey to the sand chilldren...the U.S. Marines ambush an extremely startled wanna-be Mickey Mouse and the entire television production crew!!

but wait!!..These U.S. Marines are not decked out in usual camos or Marine Corps threads,..why NO....they are dressed up like other famous American cartoon characters!!

so we see about 30 U.S. Marines,.all dressed up like cartoon characters, wreckin utter havoc on Islamic Mickey and everyone else responsible for this lame show.

There is He-Man, The Incredible Hulk, She-ra, Woody Woodpecker, Snoopy, Space Ghost, some of the cast from G.I. Joe, The Thundercats, ...and my favorite...all four of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with master splinter looking on.

while all this havoc (b.k.a..the real message being sent across the airwaves) is taking place,..the music has changed to the circa late 1980's theme song from "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"

(needless to say,.a few days later, the ratings for this tv show go very high,..and is soon hosted by Duke from G.I. Joe,.with an imprisioned Islamic Mickey Mouse always behind bars in the background)

im sure by now, the top executives and ceo of disney are well aware of this video..and as flabbergasted as they are, inside they appreciate the homage paid to its most beloved icon, Mickey.

but being that this is in the Middle East, the Disney execs are confusingly scratching their heads wondering why they didnt use Disney's Aladdin, instead??

would have probably made a more tailored impact on the children.

(by the way,.i cant wait to see a communist chinese video featuring Mulan)

I think what sesame street hustler was implying may have been frustration towards the situtation as a whole.

Peter Brady was by far the ugliest Brady kid on the "Brady Bunch". I mean, they were all pretty ugly, and the fact that the Brady dad wanted to always take the boys out on overnight camping trips just a tad bit too often, gave me the creeps.

Well, that even minded reason lasted for a whole one post. I'm not even really going to bother, Otal and Despondent have it covered. Propd to the guy who noticed that Aladdin is of Arab origin... But you see, that's THEIR legend, not ours. Disney sort of co-opted it from the book of a thousand and one nights, so the Muslims wouldn't really be stealing him.

Also, if you want to see US Marines showing how much cooler we are than those damned Ay-rabs, why not just check some video from the Haditha probe? Those guys totally kicked ass! GOOOOOOOOO JOE!

As for the comic ads Otal was good enough to post... Fawk.

I have to get that comic book just to see what this "Action like no action ever before" is... The other one I'll pass on, the one where the kid ritually sodomizes a statue of Hitler? Yeah, I did a web search and that bizarre sexual fetish is probably the only one on the web without twelve chat rooms and a story forum.

Im confused..how is it that i offended jm hoffmarn? does he have sympathic relations for people of arabic descent involved with chaotic matters such as these?

the message i sent was in protest of it, with a touch of comedic flair.

what? he doesnt like comedy or jokes?

what the hell is it..you cant tell me specifically,.besides.."OOOHH,..youve pissed someone off, beware."

i gotta say...

superman slaping a jap with a metaphore, and throwing balls at hitler are still tamer than mickey mouse miming gunning down americans.

muhamed mouse there is appealing to a much younger audience.
i don't care about who the "enemy" is... but it's pretty damn immoral to encourage violence to todlers.

those comics are quite slapstick and hardly violent.

Intolerance is shitty no matter who its coming from. Just because America used to be blatant bigots doesn’t mean other countries still get a shot at it. The world has moved on and this sort of crap is just counterproductive.

Sesame- I'm not pissed or anything, just saying that it's important to keep things in perspective. I'm glad that Hamas acted with dignity and canceled this show, I'm not saying it's a good thing, just that it shouldnt be turned into a strike against Arabs or anyone, because every culture has done this. The other thing is that while I'm against exposing children to violence, the thing is that the vast majority of Palestinian children already are exposed to violence. The Israelis make no exceptions for children, using them as human shields or firing on them when they throw rocks at the occupation forces. This is just a culture's way of dealing with a very serious problem, namely the occupation of Palestine. To a Palestinian kid whose parents are in an Israeli prison camp, hearing a message that their people will triumph over Israel is probably comforting. But as I said this might well be the wrong way to go about it.

ok. well, you say you are against violence being exposed to children. lets not forget that the american society is not innocent. in the land of red, white & blue many children pack cold blue steel into school. when i went to school, you could of gotten beaten up at the bus stop or playground...these days you can get shot or killed.

i feel that you are very motivated by this story of the arabic mickey mouse,..heck, you would have to be, because it alone made you discard your famous trademark "Geico Caveman" avatar in lieu of the mickey imposter.
