I have seen all 3 fast and the furious films.

The first was awesome.

The second one was not as good as the first, but still good.

The third one, really sucked.

However, I was like many who saw the third film in the theatres, and at the time I though it was cool. It wasnt until I recently watched the film at home, did it change my perception.

Sometimes when you see a movie initially, you tend to be overwhelmed by the special effects, sound, glitter, that you really dont notice how much the core of the film itself sucks.

Fast and the Furious-Tokyo Drift is this type of film.

Obviously, the producers/director of this film wanted it to have a fresh coat of paint. They didnt want it to be a re-hash of either of the previous two films. What to do? Take the story overseas, to the land of the rising sun: Japan!

You can make a story look good by filming overseas. Why?, well many Americans havent traveled overseas,.and to see places that are exotic and foreign can levy a certain sense of excitement, despite even coming abreast into the scope of the story. You can open a film with the opening credits rolling and show the lights and glitter of such places as Monte Carlo, Singapore, Shanghai, The Netherlands,..or in this case..Tokyo.

So, here we are,.Fast and the Furious-Tokyo Drift set amid in none other than Japan itself. Ohhh! Wow! Look at the bustling sprawl that is Tokyo!! Look at these amazing street rods, and not to mention the gorgeous exotic beauty of Japanese women that are surely not an overkill to the bland storyline.

What really irks me about this film is how the characters are acted out. Here we have a white boy (called Sean) cast out to be as white as caucasian can get. He is from Alabama, complete with heavy southern drawl, and is made out to be totally clueless as to how to drive a rally car, pick up on chicks, or any sort of style whatsoever.

Cast opposite of him is the absolutely annoying character played by Lil Bow Wow (called Twinkie). He embraces every shot of the camera as though the script was totally written for him. Mr. I-know-everything-there-is-to-know-about-street-racing. gives his streetwise insight about everything from cars to women to socializing...regardless of if anyone else in the film is asking for his opinion or not. I really didnt pay much attention to the story of how and why a young black male got to Tokyo in the first place,.but needless to say,.his character was needed to counter the extreme whiteness of "Sean". This is not to sound racist at all, but its like, more and more movies are playing out white males to be totally clueless to any type of knowledge of style, and its funny to see a black male be the one who puts him to that shame.

Then there is this young hispanic female. She is an army brat who has lived in Japan most of her life, but apparently can not speak Japanese with a proper Japanese accent. (blame that on the language coaches who were on the set!). Is there any specific purpose for having a hispanic lady in the film as well? Why not just represent every racial ethnicity in Tokyo? I mean, seriously...whats the catch here? Wouldnt the story make more sense to focus more on the Japanese?

The nemesis of the film..(which I forget his name) is very reminescent of Tran of the first film. In fact, he looks a lot like him, acts a lot like him. Its almost an unintentional rehash of this character. did they mean to do this? I hope not!

And the worst, is that they felt to base the film on not necessarily racing, but a certain tactic employed in driving a streetcar,.called Drifting. So what? The car can drift..maybe they decided to focus on drifting rather than racing because they werent able to find a stretch of street in Japan long enough to hold an actual street race. Makes sense, considering the population and street layout of Tokyo.

Anyways, I just wanted to get this all off of my chest. I hope I am not the only one who was dissatisified with this film.

All Fast and Furious movies suck ass. I’m embarrassed to say I saw the first one. Fortunately I’ve forgotten most of it.

Ever since that stupid movie came out, everybody and their mother tries to trick out their stupid piece of shit car like its supposed to be a race car or something. I remember when people would get laughed out of a car show for bringing anything older than a 79 Monte Carlo. Now these little homos put ground effects on their civic and think they deserve to get pussy. I’d like to slap all the little too fast-too furious kids right in the mouth.

when i had the movie chanels, TFATF 1 came on, and i got about 30 into to and i just couldn't do it.

The only reason for why I love that movie was because Mr. Protagonist's German voice actor is the same as for James Marsters, who played Spike in Buffy - The Vampire Slayer. And that voice actor's... aijaijai... brilliant.

It's for people like you that movies like this are made. You are the reason not just for the TWO, count them TWO sequels to an already awful movie, but also for a SPIN OFF of that horrible movie called Torque. Every time you give whatever drop out created these films some of your money at a theater you're sending a message to Hollywood: "Yes, I like the taste of your feces, please sir, may I have some more?"

I also have the feeling you had something to do with Deuce Bigalow European Gigalo, or that latest movie where Eddie Murphey wears a fat suit again.

Oh come on now, there's no need be so harsh. The first Deuce Bigalow was a little funny. ... I mean, not funny enough to watch the sequel or anything, but it had its moments.

I wasnt saying anything about the first one. It wasnt awful. But to make a sequel for it was unforgiveable. Comedy movies, by and large, are premise driven rather than plot driven. You're trying to get funny out of your premise, and there's only so much funny a certain premise can contain. A plot driven film like Star Wars or Lord of the Rings can go on for a while, but a premise driven thing "Cars go fast WEEEEEEEEE!" is NOT a basis for three movies.

I've never seen any of those either, and I surely didn't know it was a trilogy. The only movie involving fast cars I can really watch is... No, correction, looking over my DVD rack I don't have any movies based upon really fast cars.
