I have learnt a vital lesson today. No matter how small it is, never buy cheap rca plug wiring down market places or cheap stores. Out of my long size second hand wires that lasted me years this one is full of broken joints inside which I brought eight months ago.

I had to pull out all my audio wiring to get this out. It took me two hours and now I am left with a mess. I am sure they spent more money on the decorative packaging than the wire itself in trying to get it sold shoddily and quick.

Who fell victim to that scam of shoddy wires?

My headset semi-died today. One of the wires close to the earpiece loosened up inside, so I had to tape it a little bit with black tape. When I was looking up ways to fix it, I found endless forum entries about how often the wiring breaks, especially in cheap models.

I guess Logitech's considered cheap. sad.gif *looks at keyboard's wiring in a paranoid fashion*

Both of the things they have in common (my Logitech wireless mouse which I no longer use) and that cheap long wire:

Made in China on the packaging.

Inside the headset can you cut solder the loose wire back onto the contact?

I am going solder rca plugs to some spare 47 strand oxygen free speaker cables and see how that sounds. If the quality is good which I expect then I'll buy some more to replace the rest.

After comparing the reliable smaller older working cables to the cheap damaged cable, the quality on the cheap one sounds horrible and squeeky when positioned correctly to make it work which I had previously connected to the record out to an amplifier to the line in of a sound card so I can record from the cassette deck or radio. That was when I discovered the left side wasn't working.

I am too tired to clean up. Tomorrow I am going to change the room around and with satisfaction then I'll have the energy to re wire everything.

I feel so ashamed of myself for not thinking about the quality and strength at first in these cheap cables before wasting my time and money. I brought it on convenience as the shops sold the same brand and other similar brands with similar thickness for over double the price. Maybe the plastic was the thickest.

I'm not good at soldering at all, that and I don't have a soldering kit. sad.gif I'm just going to take the cheap route and just buy a new headset. tongue.gif Wiggling and taping the wire into place worked at first, but afterwards it gradually stopped working. sad.gif

If you do buy a soldering iron the high heat gas ones are reliable. The cheap gas ones take long to heat and in my case the gas runs out easily.

When I buy some copper rca jacks and solder it to the spare quality speaker cable I'll post some pictures here.

Me, I had enough of being sold expensive junk wiring.
